New Orleans (La.) University Lab four-star running back Nick Brossette, an LSU commit, was the top back for Team Armour showing a combination of quickness, wiggle and power.
Brossette — The battle was close, but the LSU commit looked to be the slightly better back on the day. He showed quickness, power and wiggle. What separated him from Patrick was his ability to catch the ball out the backfield with such ease.
In a loaded defensive secondary Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian cornerback Kevin Toliver, an LSU commit, put a very strong day and proved tough to shake. He was very physical with receivers and was one of the most consistent players on the day overall.
Kevin Toliver II – There is a reason the LSU commit from Jacksonville is a five-star prospect, the No. 11 overall player in the country and the No. 2 cornerback. He has excellent size at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds and uses it to his advantage both at the line of scrimmage by jamming the receivers and down the field by being able to break passes up and not allow the bigger receivers to go up over him. He also has surprising speed for his size.
Maea Teuhema, OT, Keller (Tx.): The offensive line did not have a stellar showing Monday, but Teuhema, a 5-star LSU commit, may have been the best of the group on his squad. He’s much more athletic and has a faster twitch than you’d expect by just looking at him on the hoof. Even though he’s rated as a tackle, he’s practicing at guard. When he worked in space, he moved well to block quicker guys on the edge.
Damarkus Lodge – The four-star prospect out of Cedar Hill, Texas, was the probably the best overall deep threat on the day. The quarterbacks loved throwing it to him down the sideline and he had several impressive grabs where he managed to keep his feet inbounds. He also had a really nice grab on a fade route over five-star cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Tyron Johnson – The five-star receiver from New Orleans, who plans to commit at Friday’s game, came in a lot more polished than expected. He made a lot of catches look effortless and was very good in his routes.
Daylon Mack, DT, Gladewater (Tx.): The 5-star tackle might not be very tall (he’s listed at 6-foot-1, but probably is closer to 6-foot), but he has a massive lower body/power base from which he derives great quickness and power. Additionally, he’s advanced because of his violent hand action.
Awesome that Nic is doing well. But whats up saying hes from NOLA?!?!
Also targets Mack and Lodge puttin' in work.
From what it sounds like that Brandon Martin kid stole the show. He's bout to get a ton of offers. Can we play up his connection to La.?

I actually prefer Brossette over Ducre and Guice. Just MO

I prefer we get all three than not.

You've failed to mention KT2 also getting praise in this post as the top defensive back.

I don't get the people who say we are stacked at rb and don't see the need for 3 this year. Because of the style offense we run its likely there will be times where 2 rb's are dinged up at the same time, leaving us with only 2 to play. The truth is if we have 5 they will all get ample playing time. Brossette is in a good spot to be a Tiger, there isn't a lot of pressure on him and he can come in and use his shiftiness which gives us a fresh dynamic currently not being utilized by Fournette and Williams. There are times where Fournette chooses to run over people instead of getting extra yards by running to open space. Plus Fournette appears a little slow out of breaks when he does decide to do that (don't crucify me).

I dont disagree but you can't expect a kid to commit using that pitch. Come here because the way our offense works we'll run the other guys into the ground and then you'll probably get to run the ball early lol.

Height didn't hurt Booger McFarland.

I dont think mickey Johnson was that small. But he just wasnt good enough to play in the SEC. Didnt have to do with height
Posted on 12/29/14 at 4:49 pm to TJG210
yeah, height is the most overrated quality of a player in college football

That most definitely depends on position.

I agree a lot of what you said colors_of_kings.
And Les Miles has a blueprint for the types of RBs he wants / uses on his team...
The "Workhorse"- This is your stud... your lead back.... your workhorse that is just a notch above the rest and gets majority of the carries. Hes the clear RB1. We havent always had a guy like this, but when we have they get the carries. Think Hill and LF.
The "Change of Pace Back" - In our offense, this guy isnt really a change of pace back. More so just a different look at the RB spot and complements our lead back. But this back is a "do it all" type of RB and is more than capable of carrying the ball between the tackles just like our lead back does. Typically 2nd in carries on the team and catches out the backfield. Think Magee and Ford.
The "2nd Workhorse" - This RB is exactly what the title says he is... hes a power back that spells your RB1 when he needs a series off and gets goal line work. Just because hes a back up doesnt mean he doesnt get PT or carries... this guy gets his touches in games. Think Darrell Williams and Hilliard.
The "Universal Back up" - This is the RB that can do it all. He can be the workhorse power back and also can play in that complementary role. Hes more of a utility RB. Think Alfred Blue.
And we use ALL of them each and every game. We are losing 2 veteran and experiences RBs in Magee and Hilliard this year, and the only 2 scholarship RBs we will have on the roster next year is LF and DWill. We need all 3 of Guice, Brossette, and Ducre and we will use all 3.
The only thing I dont agree with is when you said Brossette and his shiftiness give us a new dynamic.. Hes not really shifty. The article used the perfect word for him, he has some wiggle. If we used shiftiness to describe any of the RBs committed right now it would be for Guice. And I disagee with your LF assessment, but ill let that go just so we stay on topic

So pretty much, next year:
Fournette
Guice
Williams
Brossette
Am I close?

Someone finally agrees with me on that. Brossette is so under valued from how Guices season has been.

Not in college. You can't be too small, but outside of OT and OG, you are good to go even if you aren't 6'3.
There are plenty 6'2 DEs and DTs that go as low as 6'0 or 5'11 1/2. Their are 5'9 corners and safeties and 5'8 RBs and WRs. Some 6'2 TEs, 5'11 ILBs, and 6'0 OLBs. Also you are seeing more 6'1, 6'0, and even 5'11 QBs.

If KT is the number 2 corner, who's number 1?
