There is a growing level of worry within the Cleveland Cavaliers organization about first-year coach David Blatt and his ability to reach the team, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that there is rising concern in team circles about the level of response that Blatt is getting on the floor, with Blatt himself acknowledging that the Cavaliers "lost our energy and we lost our competitiveness" in Sunday night's embarrassing home loss to Detroit.

The Cavs would prefer not to be forced into evaluating their new coach just 30 games into Blatt's NBA career, cognizant that the job has quickly evolved into a much different one -- after LeBron James stunningly decided in July to return to his home-state team in free agency -- than it was when Blatt was hired from Israeli power Maccabi Tel Aviv in June with no NBA experience.

But the Cavs' effort level, especially defensively, is eroding noticeably, raising the volume of questions about just how much the locker room is listening to the 55-year-old Boston native, who has enjoyed tremendous international success but began this season as a relative unknown to NBA players.

Don't think it's a big deal.

Lebron was shoulder-blocking Spoelstra this time 4 years ago.

They'll pull it together, though I still think they should've held onto Wiggins.

Woj wrote when the season started that there could be a push from LeBron's handlers to get Mark Jackson in there since he is tied in with that agency. If that happens, Gilbert has been completely castrated.

I still cannot believe they hired a coach before Lebron made his decision.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate revenge?

i hope they get Jackson or Avery so that's one less terrible coach the Pels can hire in the offseason after Monty gets canned

Just part of the script.

Kevin Love will be feeling the heat in the next couple of weeks.

And Pat Riley told them to stfu. The Cavs don't have a Pat Rley in their organization.

Windhorst, whom I like as a writer, is a LeBron mouthpiece.

It's not Blatt's faul this roster has no rim protector.

That guy can clearly coach, although this is as tough a job anyone can ask for.

Cleveland needs to go ahead and trade the Waiters for a serviceable 7 footer.

Pels fans last year about Monty coaching Davis and a completely injury-ridden roster with no depth:

Fire him.

Now about Blatt coaching LeBron and another injured roster with no depth.

Dion has been playing really well lately and the only option off the bench.

If Bron would stop being in "chill mode" and throwing temper tantrums then this would be a non-story.

Any chance Love says eff this and not resign with Cavs ala Dwight/Lakers should they get bounced in the first round?

@SherwoodStrauss
LeBron used to get flak for everything. Now he trades No. 1 pick, reps teammate as agent, won't run his coach's offense and it's crickets

This is the odd thing to me so far. A lot of people saying it either has nothing to do with LeBron or the idiotic comments about how "they'll just turn it on later."

I would now if i were K Love...this situation in Cleveland is a joke. It's more of a reality TV series than a competent basketball team. They are not going to win shite.

And yes I am mad about it, I am a fan of basketball being played at a high level and the Cavs have the talent for it. They give shitty effort every night and still can skate by to a 18-12 record. Do you really think this team has what it takes to win a championship? How about an ECF title?

The answer is no.

LeBron James when asked if David Blatt is the "right" coach for the Cavs: "Yeah, I mean, he’s our coach, what other coach do we have?"

Kevin Love isn't blameless in this ordeal. This guy can't guard anyone.. I knew he was bad defensively, but I didn't think he was THIS bad.
