how do get google Chrome to load quicker?

It seems to spin and spin these days trying to load the pages. The page comes up quick but it's not 100% for a number of seconds, thus you can't scroll until it's done done.
Looks like it's scanning or loading /verifying ads?
but it's becoming very annoying..
Any suggestions?
