While at Michigan, Les Miles reportedly cheated on his wife by having sex with the wife of another coach on the Michigan team. Lloyd Carr hates him to this day for that.

Should that not have been a "red flag" during his consideration for the LSU job?

Why would LSU fans grant Miles a free pass for reportedly being a cheating, back-stabbing liar?

Those allegations by a fired ex-employee were investigated and found to be unsupported by any evidence.

First of all the suspensions was BS, Troy Aikman said recently that the NFL owes the NO Saint's an apology along with the Players Association. NUMBER 2 -How can you compare S Payton a real Coach to poor LESS who still can't spell TIME MANGEMENT- Even the BAMA sites are smart enough when they say EACH YEAR THERE WILL BE 2 to 3 GAMES that LSU's talent will not Bail Miles out. Miles is still on the job training,PITIFULL

Idiot... Drew Brees will go down as a top quarterback at the highest level, all time.

What would happen if Les Miles had losing seasons two out of three years?

NFL is different. Losses effect the teams differently due to the differences in the league.

What if Les got suspended for a year? What would be the reaction?

First off, the suspension was bogus. Second, I wouldn't be upset.

Having a quarterback that constantly throws into triple coverage the last two years? Or just throws it up hoping the WR/JG can out jump everyone?

I'll give you this one. Jennings doesn't throw into triple coverage. Then again, if a team did triple team Dural, with one sitting under the comeback route, he would.

BTW if Sean had coached LSU in 2013 that offense would have been probably one of the greatest ever.

The 2013 LSU team epitomizes a Sean Payton team. Great offense and a shitty defense.

I do not want SP or Drew gone, but I do see a double standard with the two. Les is an idiot ans Payton is a genius. Even though SP cant fix the D and has not had a good draft since 2006.

Drew Breeze is responsible for more Saint losses than wins.

In my limited experience in LA, the fan bases are reversed. LSU fans are pro-minded, very critical and super invested in the product. Saints fans wear Mardi Gras beads to games and root, root, root for the home team!

this is true to some extent.

the problem is fans say this

quote:

the nfl game is totally different than the college game. I hope you know this

and say that the pros have tough comp every week but coll fb gets 3 rent a wins.

but that is offset when you talk about margin of error. pro teams can lose 40-50% of their games and get hot in january and win SB.

coll teams have to win at least 85-100% of their games and depending on the year might not have a shot at playing for NC.

also LSU has the equivalent of Seattle, New England, and Denver in their division.

the rent a wins are offset by margin of error. and maybe back in the 70's and 80's parity was lacking in coll fb but it's caught up big time.

24 turnovers. Those pretty numbers mean nothing. Ryan fricking Tannehill threw for 4000 yards and had less turnovers and a better record with a worse team.

Of the active QB's that have seen substantial playing time throughout the season, there are only 5 QB's that have a higher rating than Drew Brees even with the less than stellar oline play..

Those QB's are as follows:

Peyton Manning
Ben Rothlesberger (not sure how to spell..)
Tom Brady
Tony Romo
Aaron Rodgers

Lets not cherry pick our info..

Simple answer: Pro football and college football are completely different animals

quote:

Why don't we want to fire Sean Payton?

In his 8 years as HC he has had one less winning season (5) than every other HC combined in the 39 years prior to his arrival (6)

quote:

Why are we not wanting to start another QB?

Although he has a growing propensity for making critical mistakes, Brees is a first ballot HOFer and still among the best QBs in the league. This is the NFL, you can just go out and "recruit" another HOF QB to take his spot

quote:

What would happen if Les Miles had losing seasons two out of three years?

In today's college football that would mean Les would have likely lost to an avg. OOC opponent as well as several avg to bad SEC opponents in those losing season. It's not tough to get 6 wins in college football. There are no New Mexico States and Sam Houston's to pad the W/L record in the NFL

quote:

What if Les got suspended for a year? What would be the reaction?

Why did Les get suspended? Was it for "failing to stop" a practice that EVERY OTHER TEAM in the NFL was doing, and had been doing for years? It's not like Payton went on a serial killing spree

quote:

Having a quarterback that constantly throws into triple coverage the last two years? Or just throws it up hoping the WR/JG can out jump everyone?

True. However that same QB led the league in passing yards; was 2nd in completion %; 5th in TDs; 6th in QB rating. Without him, the Saints would be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Ask Tampa, Washington, Oakland, St. Louis, Tenn., NYJ how nice it would be to have a QB like Brees. 7 of the 12 playoff teams have a QB rated in the top 10 of the league. Of the 5 that don't, 3 of those 5 have top 10 defenses (the Saints defense is 31st by the way)

quote:

Just wondering why such a double standard?

Because it is ridiculous to compare "success" in the NFL vs. "success" in college.

FTR: Overall, I like Les.

El oh el

Last year, he had an interception ratio of 1.84. There is only one QB in NFL history under 2 for his career.

He had the 3rd most pressures in the NFL and had an interception rate below his and Peyton mannibgs career rate.

Seriously, if you want to go there we can go there. Just say the word, and I'll drop a statistical hurricane on you

In conclusion, you're an idiot.

Isn't success success?

You'd be on point if you said "it's impossible to compare record/win percentage in the pros to CFB". But success is success in whatever field you're in. Sean Payton's run with the Saints hasn't been especially successful the last couple of years. And the suspension was heavy-handed, but he wasn't without blame in that fiasco.

As ultimately irrelevant as it is, the OP is absolutely right about the difference in how the two teams/coaches are judged.

But I will go ahead and say that comparing the Saints' recent QB struggles with LSU's is madness.

I personally don't believe either salacious story about either one of these two head coaches.

Neither should anybody else. Both stories are salacious rumors and low-life gossip.

We've been very successful the last 3 years under Payton.

Won 65% of our games and 2 playoff games even with our bad season this year

Fans from Louisiana sure do suck.

LSU had one of the youngest teams in football. Still can win 9 games come tomorrow.

But firing Miles seems like the only logical thing to do.

The Saints defense was one of the worst in the NFL. Yes we had a lot of injuries and new faces but that isn't on Brees or Payton. How many games did we lose/give up the lead under 2 minutes? 3? 4?

But yeah, let's murder Brees and shoot Payton in the face, or whatever you dipshits think I guess.

Honestly the offense was more disappointing than the defense. Hard to be consistent when the interior line is so bad.

Hard to predict the drastic decline of Evans

Two second place finishes in the division and one wildcard playoff win qualifies as very successful?
