Because the Saints have the QB we all want LSU to have? I agree with this. The organization apparently thinks individual records amount to team success. There was little to no accountability to the Saints this year.

Why don't we want to fire Sean Payton?
I wouldn't fire him he has brought a title to a team that had nothing but bad years.

Why are we not wanting to start another QB?

Because Drew Brees played just as well as years past. His OL is not playing great and our Defense can't stop anyone. His stats are still on par with years past. Look at the QBs who are great this year. Ben is playing his best season and his OL made Cincy's Defense look bad last night. Giving your QB time to make a decision is key to success at the QB spot. Even with the lack of a great OL he still carries our offense.

What would happen if Les Miles had losing seasons two out of three years?
-CLM has had back to back losing seasons. College Football losses are not the same as an NFL Loss. Much higher level of competition in the NFL with no fluff games.
-Saints won 11 games in 2013 and 7 this year.
-2012 was a wash of a season for obvious reasons so the Saints under Peyton broken down by year is:
*Not including playoffs*
2013- 11-5
*skipping 2012*
2011- 13-3
2010- 11-5
2009- Won Superbowl
2008- 8-8
2007- 7-9
2006- 10-6
- Once CSP got his system in place and the people to fit it we have had great seasons as Saints fans. Minus the 2012 and this year. I think he has done a tremendous job. Looking at our record we have improved every year minus this year, from 2007 forward.

What if Les got suspended for a year? What would be the reaction?

I would hope he wouldn't come back. I would rather take a few bad years to get things right with a new coach. Then to see us run the same offense with a QB who cannot run it.

What is the point of a Pro-Style offense when our QB cannot run it? Why not build a offensive plan that he can run.

Having a quarterback that constantly throws into triple coverage the last two years? Or just throws it up hoping the WR/JG can out jump everyone?

Ignoring this

Just wondering why such a double standard?

CLM is a good coach, but not great. He has done a good job at coaching and a great job at recruiting. Offensively we always have struggles with him and things rarely change.

In my limited experience in LA, the fan bases are reversed. LSU fans are pro-minded, very critical and super invested in the product. Saints fans wear Mardi Gras beads to games and root, root, root for the home team!

I could be waaaaaay off base. If I am, blast away. I can handle it.

I'm wondering why you're making shite up in your head.

I don't have a double standard.

Well some Saints fans are calling for all of this to be honest. I see what you're saying though. But give the Saints one more Super Bowl run and they will turn into spoiled fans like LSU.

Because Brees is a top five NFL QB.

Prolly get fired.

Fans would be pissed and blame would be placed at Les's feet and various other people. SP deserved to get suspended just not an entire season. We all know Goodell was trying to save face due to the looming concussion lawsuit and SP became the convenient fall guy. That was the issue.

It only works when your QB is one of the most accurate in the NFL. Brees is that accurate.

Or just throws it up hoping the WR/JG can out jump everyone?

There is no hoping. Throws by Brees into coverage are usually back shoulder or over the top away from the defender. Most NFL QBs make these throws. A perfect throw can never be defended. Brees makes a lot of perfect throws.

No double standard.

The way you defend Brees is to pressure him up the middle. The current huge issue with the Saints is OL. That needs to get fixed.

In terms of coaching, SP is always blamed for being "too cute". In other words, conservative in terms of play calling is not in SP's vocabulary. SP calls plays to used the players full talent. Also his style is much more risky...or perceived risky. SP has a coaching philosophy that lends itself to a higher standard deviation of wins and losses over the seasons. It makes the game fun to watch and the chances of squeaking out a Super Bowl or two are 10%-20%. You can have a very long career in the NFL with that kind of success.

On the other hand Les relies on talent differential more than scheme. Miles rarely out coaches teams of equal talent. SP does that all the time.

I know it's a little unfair to compare a pro team to a college team but just take a look at what a Miles coached team does with 2 minutes left in that half versus a SP coached team with 2 minutes left in the half. 2 minutes is a lifetime for SP to score a TD or FG whereas if Miles is not across the opponents 50, he's running up the gut and taking it into the half.

While losing is never good, losses in the college game are much more devastating when it comes to the post season.

Sean Payton does need to run more on third and short, however.

LINK

According to these stats... Drew has a qb rating above 90 since 2008 or so... This year his QB rating is 97... While that is down from last year by a bit, it is still a very good rating considering his oline and the stats do not support any level of downward trend over the last few years..

24 turnovers. Those pretty numbers mean nothing. Ryan fricking Tannehill threw for 4000 yards and had less turnovers and a better record with a worse team.

Example of a double standard.
when LSU went for it on 4th against bama, two friends were yelling that it was a stupid call before the play even happened.
The next day NO went for it on 4th deep in their own territory. Same two friends thought it was the best call of the game.

*This wasn't supposed to be a saints thread but the O-line would be better if we would not have lost a couple because Brees wanted too much money...

Sean doesn't get Sam Houston St, Western Ky on the schedule. Also can't recruit anyone he wants and LSU doesn't have a salary cap. So it's apples and oranges. And BTW if Sean had coached LSU in 2013 that offense would have been probably one of the greatest ever.

I'm not a Saints fan, so I'll ask ...

If Les was caught stealing vicodin or other prescription meds from the team medical staff ... would LSU fans grant him a free pass?

The people who clam to get rid of Drew Brees really out themselves as people who didn't watch Saints football prior to 2006.

If you fired Payton, he'd be on the first flight to Atlanta, with a contract to be the highest paid coach in football and frick us twice a year for the next 10.

The sad part is there are some knuckle-dragging, mouth breathers on the otherside of the keyboatd, like the OP, who actually think it would make the team better.

Just last season, the Saints won a Playoff Game on the road, which is a significant accomplishment.

Despite that fact, in light of what happened to the 2014 Saints, it is not outside the realm of possibility to surmise that Coach Sean Payton is now in the twilight of his tenure in New Orleans.

He MAY BE on his way out in New Orleans. He will need to turn things around in a couple of years, or he will lose the fans.

You may think that there is a double standard, but, there is not. You watch what happens if Payton's teams stink again in 2015 and 2016. I strongly believe that he will be gone, in that case.

But, keep in mind -- the Saints won a road playoff game last year. 2014 is not yet a pattern of failure and underachievement.

I don't believe it was ever proved that Sean was stealing vicodin. Was it alleged or proven?
