i think the hotel where Richard Burton's wife shot him was on the capital lake where the division of admin. new building is now.
She got out of jail and worked as a legal secretary for a while, but i have not heard anything about her in years.
Here's an interesting "rest of the story" i heard from a long-time defense lawyer. One of the small courthouses on the west bank north of new orleans was one of the first to get a metal detector for the courtroom because of this case. on the day of his death, Burton was set to try a case against the defense lawyer at this courthouse. before lunch, burton's wife presented herself at the judge's chambers looking for Burton. The case had settled and everyone was gone, so she left. The rumor was that she intended to shoot him during the trial.
