What? anyone involved in the truce has an incentive to wipe out the competition. Yeah, everyone being peaceful with each other is the more efficient overall market outcome than everyone being violent, but the dominant strategy for any individual player in the co-op is definitely to take out the competition. So of course someone is going to do that eventually

Is it really snithching when avon was really explaining the double cross?
A junior partner had a problem with an contractor from organization the company had a very lucrative relationship with. The CEO didn't want to lose that relationship and made the call that the junior partner had to go.
Season 2 & 3 West Baltimore drug storyline was all about the fall of Stringer.

and then they'd be left facing whomever got the good stuff from the greeks. prop joe had that relationship

until they join and do better and realize they wouldn't do as well if it failed
esp if they didn't have the "good shite"

and if stringer didn't make the deal in season 2 (that avon fricked up, which led to him hiring brotha without asking the CEO, bell), then there is no barksdale story for season 3 and 3 b/c they'd be done

You're forgetting Cheese. Cheese selling out Prop Joe was probably the lowest thing anyone in the show did.

i didn't even want to give cheese the respect of a listing

I'm not saying Avon should have made a different choice, but he wouldn't lose the heroin connect (due to the co-op) by not giving up Stringer. He might not be able to get coke or other stuff, but I think they would be ok.
Avon's decision was less about business and more about street cred.
Of course its likely Brother (who while awesome is one of my least favorite characters on the show, really a short, suit-wearing, book-reading NOI superman gangsta????) gets Stringer anyway without Avon, and I'm sure Avon knew that.

if stringer hadn't ratted out Avon, him and the 20 dudes he had armed to the teeth would have wiped out Marlo's entire inner circle at the tire shop.

avon is NOT leading the charge on a shootout wearing some fricking golf visor

If the towers were still up they maybe could have held a few of those down, but no doubt they wouldn't be the dominate players on the westside anymore.

my main man slim charles would have done most of the dirty work
re: Stringer Bell: Mistakes were made. (The Wire)Posted by SlowFlowPro on 12/28/14 at 10:27 pm to NIH
for all the talk about bell's frickups, can we talk about avon's?
he completely fricked up the marlow hunt, almost dying in the process. marlow was a better gangsta than avon, just like clay davis was a better political greaseball than stringer bell

avon's main problem with the marlo hunt was not having competent people. bird, wee-bey, and stink 'em were all head and shoulders better than anyone in season 3 besides slim charles.

and that, like the reality of losing market share due to shitty product, was a reality he had to face
bell made the deal to keep them alive (and made them better than they were)
avon lived like it was those old days and he failed. he refused to face reality and deal with it properly

stringer should have definitely dealt with marlo a lot quicker than he did/tried to. had marlo been offed or chased away by the time avon had gotten out a lot of problems could have been avoided.

Word. But I think overall Stringer had the better long term strategy. Throughout the series the bodies brought the police. The co op was a means of creating fewer bodies and securing a better product at a lower price.

plus you lower you overall overhead, i'm sure
it would have been fun to watch weebay and chris go head to head, though, in a game of wits
hopefully deangelo sent a delayed package, back to the future 2 style, to them in jail so they could learn how to play chess
