Kessler has quietly had a great season. Does USC have the crown of being QBU? I was looking at old stats going back to the Carson Palmer era (he took over in 2000), every USC starting QB since then has had one or more seasons of at least 3,200 yards and 29 touchdowns.

2002 Palmer: 3,942 yards 33TD
2003 Leinart: 3,556 yards 38TD
2004 Leinart: 3,322 yards 33TD
2006 Booty: 3,347 yards 29TD
2008 Sanchez: 3,207 yards 34TD
2011 Barkely: 3,528 yards 39TD
2012 Barkley: 3,273 yards 36TD
2014 Kessler: 3,626 yards 37TD

Thats amazingly consistent QB development. As an LSU fan, I'm jealous. That stretch covers 4 head coaches (5 if you count Coach O's 8 games in 2013).

Does Cassell count, too?

Thread is funny to me since my little cousin just asked if any USC QB isn't an NFL bust. All I could think of was Palmer is the best of the recent era.

They've put a lot of qb's in recent years, but most have been complete busts.

Perhaps products of the system since it seems to be next man up follows with the same stellar numbers. But its hard to deny that they develop effective college QBs.

A university is considered QB U, RB U, LB U if their former players do well in bunches from that position in the NFL. So, no , USC is not QB U.

USC's qbs are more system products. Either that or the PAC 12 sucks at pass defense on the whole.

Yeah USC is the opposite of what would be considered QB-U.

No it's not. It's about having a bunch of really good players at that position.. While in college.

It seems like every single team in a bowl game has a better QB than LSU. I cannot begin to explain how frustrated that makes me.

Not sure how the qb's could be products of the system when they have had at least 5 different offensive coordinators the last 10 seasons or so and for the most part have run a pro style offense. Product of the system generally refers to gimmick offenses.

JaMarcus has more career touchdown passes than Leinart.

I also suggested that it might be the PAC 12 and its crappy secondaries.

I don't think so. I've seen it used in reference to the ability of a university to put out good players at a position in the NFL.

Penn st was linebacker u because of their players who went on to do well in the NFL. Some say Lsu is approaching wide receiver u because of the success of Bowe, LaFell, Randle and OBJ.

Flynn is as good in the NFL as every USC QB since Palmer.

If all Penn State LBers sucked in the league they would still be linebacker U

USC has that continuous supply of affluent suburban white kids that have been groomed by professional QB coaches from a very young age.

kinda arbitrary statline, it cuts off Leinart's 05 season. 3800 yds/ 28 TDs ain't too shabby.
