I found it kind of hard to believe that kid had not experimented with weed before. His mom certainly seemed pretty lenient (and a little clueless).

The first line he ever said in front the camera in a movie was his most recognized line

and his 2nd most recognized line is from the same movie

She was an extra

She briefly walks by a bunch of the guys at the pool hall and she is also the girl holding the beer bong for Parker Posey at the field party

The kid had just graduated the 8th grade. Geez, how old were you when you first got high? I didn't smoke my first joint until I was a junior in HS.

Gotcha. Thought you might've been mistaking her with JLA.

if you grew up in the 70's it's definitely a memory lane event.

I was a kid in the 70s, started 6th grade in 1979. If you were a stoner in the 70s or early 80s, you most definitely started smoking in middle school, whether it be 6th or 8th.

Sure, some people started later (I don't think I smoked a J until after high school), but most kids, by the end of 8th grade, had experimented with some form of mood altering substance.

I graduated in the Junior class that was between the Seniors and Freshman in the time frame of this movie. I've never experienced a film that put me back in time so accurately.

The scene where Wooderson enters the pool hall in slow motion was just mind-blowing. I guess every southern town had a place like that, but man, it hit home.

The only discrepancy (for me) was that the Freshman hazing in Lafayette had come to an end a couple of years before I entered high school. Other than that, everything in that movie matched up with my high school experiences.
