It's too bad that people actually think it makes them cool or tough. It's like snakes and tattoos.......NO one thinks you are cool.....NO ONE!

Oh, Lawd. You done it now. The ink apologists will be here en masse defending themselves.

I own a Doberman and I did my research. I can't speak for the other breads you listed, but I can tell you Dobermans get a bad wrap because of television/movies.....plain and simple. They are very low down stat sheet as far as attacks go. Yet they are always lumped in with visious dogs like pits. I guess they have the strength and teeth to inflict major harm, but in general, they don't attack people. HOWEVER, they are not typically fans of other dogs in their territory. Ha

Comments from the article that the OP linked:

Blanca was horrified to find her beloved husband on the floor in a puddle of his own blood.

His dogs were his life,’ said his mourning wife to reporters as she held back tears.

Rodriguez told reporters she never had problems with her pit bull before and called this a 'freak accident.'

'I don't want people to think bad of pit bulls. It was a freak accident. He loved the dogs,' Rodriguez told reporters.

‘They were playful dogs,' she said. 'One slept with the girls and the other slept with me and my husband.’

Sounds just like our OT pit lovers.

Tragic story but I could not have help but chuckle.

Own a Doberman too. Hands down best dog I've ever owned. Very protective of family and house and looks intimidating but would not not attack people.

Other breeds should not be grouped with the Pit Bull. Yes, there are other "aggressive breeds" out there but the Pit Bull is by far and away the most dangerous by nature.

I own a German Shepherd, wonderful dog and great with our family and folks who visit our home, but I've seen how powerful her jaws and neck muscles are, and how agile and quick she is. I see her as very "dog intelligent" - if one can apply this human term to a lower mammal, but I am acutely aware that she could be lethal.

I'm more skeptical of Pits in general, and will admit I'm biased toward thinking they are less suited to quiet family life - not the animal's fault, just part of its DNA and resultant hard wiring of its brain - I could absolutely be wrong - I'm a human physician, not a dog neural behavorisit.

That being said, I'd like to see the autopsy - make sure there isn't some other lethal wound on this guy and the dog mauling part isn't post or peri-mortem from some other mayhem.

The main difference between the other aggressive breeds and Pitt Bulls are that they tend to turn on their owners. Yes, you can find exceptions to the rule with every breed but Pitts tend to turn more than any other breed.

For all the ballsy pit lovers, I dare you to google "pit bull attack", click Images. Look at the grown man with the middle of his face missing and the rest of it hanging like torn meat.

"How could that possibly happen?"

It's too gross to post for us mere pussy bitches.

How many dobermans eat their full grown male owner of eight years?

I had a Dobe that lived to 8 years. She was a fantastic dog. While movies perpetuate the dangerous image of Dobes, pit bulls literally kill people on the reg as shown in the OP.

That could have been caused by several things and there's nothing proving that was a pitbull attack

lol... feel free to investigate it, see if the dude's dripping face wasn't caused by a pit.

I'm sure it's a coincidence that it comes up under that search, and certainly inconceivable that such a mild beast could inflict such damage to one's face.

I wonder what mr. dead Christmas would say about his pit now? sleeping with his daughters?

Genius.
