FIL spotted him this morning. Said he came out at about 250yds. in his lane at around 7:00 this morning. Said he was trailing some does that had come through about 10 mins. earlier. He could not get a shot because he was walking away from him and never really got broadside before slipping into the thicket. He did have a very noticeable limp and an even more noticeable rack. I am relieved to know that he will more than likely live or give me another chance before season is over. Hopefully I will get some pics on trail camera of him if nothing else. Flame away.

Just posted on the IST about a buck I shot this morning. I shot once and wasn't sure if I hit him, he stood there for a second so I racked another round and shot him again. Ended up finding him but only found one bullet hole so I don't know which shot hit him, the first or second? I never shoot twice but I shite you not, I was thinking about your thread from the other day when I decided to shoot a second time. So there's a lot me good that came from your story!

Man I shot one out in Big Lake Texas one time with that same gun and same load. I fired and he just bolted behind a mesquite bush. I could see him standing there and I bolted another round waiting for him to step from behind it. He was about a 100yds give or take. But that damn deer just stood there looking around like he was trying to figure out where the shot came from. I was thinking how did I miss him? All of a sudden it was like you stuck a hot poker up his arse. He ran about 3 short circles and fell right there. Never knew he was hit. I'm thinking that gun shoots too fast for expansion if you don't hit some bone or such. Might go back to the old Rem 700 .270!

I can see this is gonna quickly become my favorite new thing on the OB

For the record most of us dog hunters ALWAYS throw at least 3 shells out there just in case and are pretty good at reloading for number 4 & 5

Enlighten us then Mr. Jackie Bushman. So it is impossible for that bullet not to expand properly and make a clean pass through. Impossible?

You would be wise to drop it and move on. Practice shooting and start over.

Answer the question. Is it impossible? Not likely I know. But not impossible.

I felt bad for him at first, but after his reaction I think I would rather watch the train wreck...

It's impossble for a 300 win mag to not make an exit on a broad side shot. There. You happy?
