Pray tell, is there a cut of this film available that includes an ending?

It's amazing that people hate that it isn't a happy ending. He's fricked, and she wins. I love it. And I would suggest reading the book which has more time to end and sews things up a bit better. If you don't want to read, I can tell you some of the details.

People need cookie cutter endings.

Quite the opposite. I'm fine with ambiguous endings. I'm not a retard that needs everything tied up into a bow.

My problem was not that the ending didn't tie everything up in a bow, it's that the way it ended was ludicrous.

So Affleck stays with her to protect the child from her. Got it. He's screwed.

Oh, wait, another way he could have protected the baby from her was to burn her and have her locked up or executed for 1st degree murder. That would have kind of protected the baby from her.

Second of all, the murder she carried out would never have withstood even the most incompetent of investigations. Are we to believe that was investigated and her story stood? horseshite.

The ending wouldn't have needed much to be tolerable. Just a closing shot of the lady detective going through a file on his wife would have been enough for me. That would have left things open but still left the interpretation that maybe this wasn't quite over. I could live with that.

Great movie, stupid ending.

You're not as sophisticated as a 25 year old Bogie's nerd. He listens to a podcast!

Dude, he stayed with her because he's almost as crazy as she is.

If he tried anything she would have gotten an abortion. He was protecting the child the whole time. It was basically the only way.

There will be an additional ending on the DVD, but it will include more of Affleck's penis.

The book ties up the looking into the murder more closely better than the movie (but they hinted at it)

Boney didn't buy it, but the PD was trying to save face after "botching" the initial investigation so they shut her down.

ETA: in the book Des' murder also wasn't near as ridiculous, either

All of this.

I hated the ending when I read the book but the more I thought on it the better it was. She was perfect and she got away with everything.

FIFY. Don't get the hype. I guess I should read the book because it sounds better. It would have to, the way some fanboys/girls overreact to that movie on here.

People who need movies tied up with a bow are weird to me. I love open endings.

Just seeing this. BOOK SPOILERS.

Some complaints about the ending is that Boney should have kept working on the case when she knew that Amy was a murderer. The complaint is that it was simply the right thing to do. To address this, let me just say that I think that Gillian Flynn (author of book and movie) made some improvements that made for a better movie. For instance, Detective Boney was WAY more likable in the movie. Her character was smart and at times, as a viewer, I found myself siding with her during the discussions with Nick.

Well in the book, she was not nearly as likable. I honestly didn't expect her to help out, as she was embarrassed enough by the whole ordeal, and the feds had taken the case. BUT on top of this in the book, Boney found that Amy had covered her tracks extremely well. She had saved some of her long hair (presumably in a plastic bag before/during the hair dye/cut process). She had left hairs in the trunk of Desi's car and rolled in the back of it, so that her dead skin cells were all over the trunk. Also, there were no video cameras in the lakehouse, so that was not a problem at all. Let's remember that the cameras did make for some intense scenes in the movie, so I'm glad they added them.

Another part that is often brought up is that Amy had no head wound. This was a mistake for sure. In the book, she does not draw the blood. She cuts the wound with a box cutter and spews blood everywhere. Therefore, she does have a wound consistent with that type of injury and battle with Desi in the house.

I also want to address the "I'm a cool girl" stuff. The movie referenced it, but this was a HUGE part of the book. In the end, Nick LOVED Amy's act. It was an act, but he had to have known. And when she told him in the end that another girl wouldn't be enough for him, she was right. Nick loved the thrill of Amy. Yes she was a killer, but this just made her more exciting. The pregnancy was almost a convenient excuse to stay with her, but at the same time, he really couldn't trust this woman to raise his biological child.

The book also has lots of great stuff about the tug-o-war they played with each other when they returned. She had saved evidence of him poisoning her (which she actually did to herself), but he found it (in a bag of green beans in the back of the freezer) and threw it out. It's a weird story, but pretty fun.

Finally, the pregnancy announcement came much later in the book. He had actually written an entire book about what a crazy bitch she was. He didn't care if he couldn't entirely prove it because he knew that the story was believable enough with the info he had, and that at least some people would believe it was entirely possible. Unfortunately for Nick, Amy knew he was up to something when he was writing the book because he had never worked so diligently in his life. She wrote a book at the same time, simply titled, "Amazing." When he told her about his book, she dropped the pregnancy bomb, had him delete his book, and began the process of releasing her amazing story.

I can cover more later. Going to see another movie.
