They showed up around 10 years ago, and were easy to manage at first as long as you killed a handful every year, but those days are over. The place is completely overrun and you can't ever see any deer because of them.

Suggestions please.

Thanks bud

I post as I sit in my tree stand in anger, a whole hog herd is on the ridge in front of me making as much noise as possible, and the leaves and ground in the hollow looks like it was mauled by an Apache helicopter.

I know the feeling Reb6 these critters are overly abundant everywhere! Excellent table fare and target practice.
Here's a before and after pic from the other day of one herd I'm culling.

I know I speak for everyone else on the ob, but we just need a time and place.

This has always made sense to me in that I've often wondered about the results if a LOT of folks pooled their hog eradication efforts in one area at a time and "cleaned" out that area. Then just move on to the next infestation. Killing a few hogs here and a few hogs there is certainly a step in the right direction, but if everyone in the region got together regularly for a no holds barred hog eradication in one place at the same time, wouldn't that result in some very positive population control? That's easy for me to ask since we don't have any hogs here yet, but when we do (and we will eventually) I would welcome such an effort. Folks used to have rat killins when I was a kid. Catchin em one at a time just wouldn't get the job done. Why not a hog killin?

Sounds dangerous. I'd be scared to get too close to some of these Rambo wannabes with their new tacticaled out ARs.

I'd be in with a group of folks I knew.

Traps, night hunting, dog hunting, shooting all of them on sight.

Slick, we all have at least 2 or 3 lasers so we know what we're shooting.

my understanding is that you have to remove 80% of the hogs per year off of the property, every year, in order to be able to control it...

Kind of ironic in that current pork prices in the grocery store are sky high because of the pork shortage caused by the disease induced deaths of so many domestic hogs on the pig farms. Yet, we have millions of wild hogs running loose with very few, relatively speaking, harvesting efforts.
