Have a handful of people I hang out with just had boudin and fresh shrimp over night delivery but overall it does suck

You will experience 100+ in the summer and below zero in the winter. And as others have said, the wind. Always the wind. There's a lot of old west history out there. You're not far from real mountains. It's no garden spot, but like most places, it's what you make of it. If you have a good attitude, you can find reasons to like it.
