LSU didn't even get past midfield against Bama. Look at the Bama D that year.

The bama game may have been 3-0 but at no point in the game did LSU threaten the tide...biggest 3-0 blowout in the history of football

I was 11 at the time and was a year away from catching LSU fever so I don't remember the game. That's I had always heard that it was a 3-0 blowout. But I remember seeing highlights one time and LSU had several throws into the endzone at the end of the game.

Was on hunting with a player from that team he said Bryant told a few of them when they nfgot a lead they weren't going to anything fancy or foolish with the ball and "we'll just get out of here with a win"....he took it as Bryant liked Mac and there was not point beating them any worse than they had too.

Watching that game in its entirety after knowing that - kinda clear.

What's that thing we do on the first drive where the qb seems to be "pushing" the ball forward and it goes through the air and the guy catches it and the referee signals first down?

My wife's grandfather was the head referee (white hat) that day. Before he died, he gave my son the equipment he used for the game, just as a keepsake. (I know, I know - cool story bro)
