No crap.
What's that thing we do on the first drive where the qb seems to be "pushing" the ball forward and it goes through the air and the guy catches it and the referee signals first down?

You caught that hu

Fake to the fullback proceeded by the option down the line and Woodley shoots a pass up field to Tracy Porter.

Johnny Unitas is the color man for the broadcast and keeps referring to LSU as Louisiana . Kenny Duckett a receiver and return man for Wake Forest was drafted by the Saints and played a few years. A few nice interviews at the end including one with Cholly Mac.

I consulted wiki and apparently they called it...."the forward pass".
It never really caught on I guess.

Best to stick with what works. Shouldnt rock the boat... it might hurt the program.

That 79 team caused me so much pain in my little boy arse. So close to true greatness. The Bama and USC losses were razor thin.

Les Miles refers to this as a "great risk" and a short lived fad.

I know that the "flying wedge" was outlawed but couldn't come up with some modern version? Or would this be deem too risky?

Player or on staff?

Nothing particular I just love seeing these old games. Not very many floating around youtube. Its just interesting seeing how the game and players have changed and evolved.

Yeah that hasn't happened...in months. Since we broke every LSU passing record in history last year. We are a regular Navy.

My final game in TGBFTL (as well as for my neighbor Charlie Mac). Frank Wickes came the following year and switched rehearsals from 1 hour a day to 2, and I decided graduating was more important than band. I mean by that time, tuition was what, several hundred dollars a semester? And there was that $225/month apartment rent.

Damn I'm old.

That game is the only bowl game I did not attend in person between Jan 1, 1966 and this year's game in Nashville.

I remember watching this game with some friends and thinking where was this damn offense all season ! Instead of run, run, pass and punt, we actually opened it up ! We were pissed !

The bama game may have been 3-0 but at no point in the game did LSU threaten the tide...biggest 3-0 blowout in the history of football
