So the question is would A&M pay more than 1.3 for something that is arguably worth 1.7 or more. My guess is everyday and twice on Sunday.

If LSU needs to pay more, I'm sure they will. People who think LSU is trying to lowball aren't doing their homework. Chavis didn't like coaching the season without an extension in place, but the athletic dept wanted to wait until after the season to take of that. Chavis was asking for more years, and they gave him a contract for just that- 3 more years.
However, that deal hit his desk before Muschamp was locked up at AU, and before A&M came sniffing around. This offer isn't an indication of anything, other than the LSU athletic dept giving Chavis EXACTLY what he asked for at the time.
If he asks for more now based on changes in the DC market, he'll get it.
