Never said I thought LSU has more money but let's not act like LSU can't afford Chief. LSU is doing fine money wise and already pays more for its staff than A&M does. It's absurd to think A&M will just pay Chief 2 million a year and LSU couldn't afford to match it.

Athletic department money is not equal to institutional money.

You guys are insufferable. He is waiting after the bowl game and making sure the michigan hire isn't Les. He turned town UT, Tenn, and UGA since he's been at LSU. He isnt goin to some finess school and practicing against a tempo offense every day and coaching for someone who has NFL aspirations. It's not all about $.

You act like a DC is worried about how much money a school has. Yes, you over paid for a head coach, but you spend less on your coaching staff than we do. LSU & very few others have been in a class of their own when it comes to coaches' pay, aTm is trying to get their but are 0-2 and looking like 0-3 in the near future for DCs.

LSU doesn't have a bigger endowment than TAMU, but that has nothing to do with what Chief will or won't make in regards to LSU. Look at the stats LSU pays more money to it's assts than any other school! It all comes down to value and if LSU feels that whatever Chief's offers are from other universities, is Chief's value to the program worth it in LSU's mind. If they feel Chief is worth it, LSU will pay it. LSU has the money to pay the same amount that TAMU is offering you dumb-arse!

We already have the highest paid staff in the nation then you want to add another 700k-1 million on top of all that after an 8-4 season?

Chavis makes 1.3 million and that's a very fair deal.

LSU-You do indeed have the highest paid coaching staff which is a testament to your desire to maintain a great program. The 1.3 for Chief was agreed upon by both parties in 2012. Attempting to lock Chief in at the 2012 rate for 3 more years through 2017-well that is (risky). The market is different. You may be paying someone too much, but it is not Chief. Market value is a reflection of what others are willing to pay. Since he has been at LSU,Chief has had offers from Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and now perhaps Texas A&M?? (All big players not some DII school). Clemson offered at the same time as LSU and again later. South Carolina had strong interest. All these big time bidders on your asset in less than 6 years. Whatever happens it might be time to revisit your allocation of resources because directing resources towards this particular asset was money well spent. This market activity also tells you he is likely priced too low for what he can do. People don't try to buy things that are priced too high whether it is a house or a professional service.

Correct. I'd dock a little bit from both Cam and Miles and give it to Chief. He's the reason that we just have 4 losses. Like it or not.

All I know is that the last time we went cheap and let Miles get creative with his DC hire, he put Mallaveto in place. I'd rather not have that bullshite again.

Unfortunately the DC market rate has moved drastically. We have to pay accordingly here.
