He has been duck obsessed since 7. Asking for calls for every event and holiday.

Somehow in my infinite wisdom I got him two more calls for Christmas.

Now I told him to bring me his lanyards so I could put them on. Problem is, there are too many.

He has only been on 5 duck hunts.

How did I get here?

One is a distress rabbit and one is an owl.

Merry Christmas OB

I know nothing about ducks, hunting them or calling them but that's a pretty impressive collection especially for a 9 year old. All the 9 year olds I know are glued to iPads or xbox/playstation. Congrats dad

Pretty cool!
Get him 1000 ft of paracord so he can make his own lanyards.

He wants to make a how to video for calling ducks. I'll see if we can later.

He made his own paracord bracelets w Boy Scouts. We might try.

All he does is practice. On every guided hunt ice taken him on, the guides test his knowledge and ask him to blow a few calls. On each occasion he proved it and has done the only calling for the blind.

He is quite good.
I didn't teach him. I just enable him. Send me the address Wick, we will bring fishing poles and tight line too. :)

there are a lot worse things that he could be interested in!...just as long as it doesn't become a distraction from "real life" I'd let him roll with it!

yall killin anything at Iowa? how about the area south of the gibbstown bridge on 27?...

Last time I was in Iowa was in Sept for teal season. It's north of I-10 by about 7 -10 miles. Haven't been back since but I really want to take him on a big duck hunt. He's never shot a mallard, pintail, widgeon, Woodie or goose. Only killed blue wings and a hooded merganser. The place in Iowa is Denison farms and they are great.
Just its guided hunts and they ain't cheap.

Little donchowder has a similar situation with knives. I have to just smile and be glad it's not Pokémon or something like that.

That's awsome! I can only hope that my little one is asking for calls instead of video games at that age
