The revisionist history is strong with these people.

Nick Saban did make the administration put more money into facilities and recruiting but his ON THE FIELD stats arent great.

He won two SEC titles and a NC by his 4th season. Those aren't on the field stats? Or that isn't impressive?

Saban lost one reg season game in 03 and two in 04. Everyone knows we were robbed at Auburn.

Like Miles was robbed in 2006 at auburn? Miles has another sec west title and imo we wax Florida of we play them again. 2006 Florida frustrated me sooooo much. Ints off of our wrs helmets. Our dbs go up for an int and end up tipping it to a UF wr who takes it to the house . painful to watch.

Saban fricked lsu on his last recruiting class. Saban had given up on recruiting so much so that he wasnt recruiting the instate, #1 overall recruit. He frickes8d lsu so bad Miles couldn't even fill the class.

Wr- josh reed , Michael Clayton, devery Henderson
Dline-marcus spears, chad lavalais, marquise hill(rip), kendrick allen, jarvis green
Lb- trev faulk, bradie james
Dbs-corey webster, ryan Clark

Group B:
qb - mett
rb - hill, blue, copeland, magee, hilliard,
wr - obj, landry, wright, boone, dural
ol - Turner, la'el, vadal

Again, Saban lpst 3 games im 2001 while his team was loaded with nfl talent. Miles doesnt have the luxury of coaching in a sec west where 3 losses wins you the west.

So wait. Losing 4 games, then 3 games, then 5 games, then 1 game, then 3 games is IMPRESSIVE? And you bash Miles for 2012&2013? Wow

Saban took over for a guy that lost and got run off. Had to build it.

Miles didn't have to build it. He had to maintain it.

Why is that so hard to understand?

Saban took over for a guy who was two years removed from back-to-back 9-win seasons.

DiNardo lost because LSU didn't want to pay Reese. Not because the cupboard was bare.

Are we taking into account how shitty the sec was in 2001? Hell a 3 loss team won the west. I would definitely take 2001 defense.
dline- Jarvis Green, Marcus Spears, Kendrick Allen, Marquise Hill, and Chad Lavalais
lbs
- Bradie James, Trev Faulk
Secondary- Ryan Clark, Corey Webster, Jack Hunt,RandalL Gayn and Norman lejuene

All these defensice players from 2001 were studs and played in the nfl.
2001 defense is far superior, in talent, to 2013

Also the 2001 offensive personal is full of studs that went on to play in the nfl.
qb-rohan davey
rb-Labrandon toefield n Dominik Davis
wr- josh reed, devery Henderson, michael Clayton
te-robert royal
oline stephen Peterson, ben Wilkerson.
2001 had more overall talent that 2013.

Exactly. Lsu won 10 games in 96 and 9 games in 97.

He walked into a program stocked with nfl talent

If you were knowledgeable about cfb, youd know its common knowledge that its harder to MAINTAIN a powerhouse program than it is to build one.
For example, which is harder to do? Having 3 elite recruiting classes OR have 10 good recruiting classes?
Which is harder to do? Win 12 games two years in a row OR win 10 games for a decade?

He never played, though. That's a dumb perspective, in my opinion.

He was in the league for three or four years. An NFL coach decided he was good enough to back up his star QB, but that's not good enough to be considered an NFL QB to you? Sorry he didn't live up to your idea of success as a professional.

You know, after reading all this you have convinced me. Miles is a better coach than Saban. 2013>2001. Saban inherited a better program in 2000 than Miles did in 2004.

Consider me converted.

So you don't think that Saban would have won just as many as Miles during Les's tenure at LSU? So you feel that LSU will always be 2nd rate to Alabama as a program? That is the message being sent by those that feel Miles is a better coach.

Oh yeah, and it's also more difficult to maintain a program than to build one.

I left that off the list. Anything else?

I'd argue they were basically the same during their tenures here.
