I think for me it was when I joined the military and moved to Japan. I haven't been home for Christmas since. I have a kid now and I try to get in the same mood I was in as a child but I'm a cynical douche now so its hard.

Stopped caring when I was 15 and my aunt died. She was one of the only reasons why I looked forward to Christmas.

Ignorance is bliss, so we know you're constantly happy.

But don't pretend like you're not poor.

I find that most people who have trouble getting in the Christmas spirit are those who focus way too much on the material aspect of it.

Moving away for a few years made me realize how special Christmas is as a time to be with those you love, and give thanks for the blessings in our lives.

When i waa in military i volunteered to work christmas days so guys with kids could be home. Someone had to stay back and i was alone up in new york. Perks were i got hookup on few 3 day weekend passes and leave when most people were back. So i didnt mind it because was alone.
when i moved back home i appreciated christmas more and now that i have kid of my own i love it. I honestly could care less about getting the first present for myself. I dont even think im gettng anything this year because i said put it all towards my daughter instead.ive had more fun bringing her to santa and watching christmas movies than i ever have

What happens if you move away for a few years and you come home once a year to no family to spend Christmas with other than your disabled mother? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my mother and she's the reason why I look forward to flying home every year but I fricking hate the fact that the rest of my family are a bunch of assholes who don't care about her or me. That being said, I could give two shits about the material aspects of Christmas. Noone buys me any gifts, therefore I don't have to waste my money buying gifts for the rest of my uppity family.

How about you post a pic of your house (most prob dorm room or apt) and I'll post a pic of mine?

Deal?

Agreed. I never understood people getting bent out of shape about either the commercial or religious aspects of Christmas. Not to be cliche, but it's a state of mind. I loved Christmas as a kid, I loved it before I was married, and I love it now as a father.

Bro, I'm military too. I was deployed to the desert last year missing the birth of my first child and her first Christmas holiday as well.

With that said, I love Christmas and everything it represents. I want my kids to enjoy the same tradition I do with our family every year, and there's no doubt in my mind she will.

Christmas is awesome. Suck it up. The world is hard and will shite on you but this is the time of the year to enjoy all the blessings you have!

I'll always care about Christmas just because of the reason for season

But I stopped caring about what presents I got in my early 20s...nowadays I'm just blessed to have both parents here to celebrate and everyone is relatively healthy
