You're fun, with your condescension.

Ted Cruz is forever destined as a State politician that's safe in only Texas. He's red meat for the republican base that has no clue how to work in Washington. People who take hard line stances in DC are usually disappointed and that was evident in the last two weeks when he fricked up enough that Obama nominees were confirmed.

It's a safe bet he would have no clue how to govern something that's not completely red like Texas.

Because there is nothing differentiating Cruz from hundreds of other Republican politicians. He's fundamentally a man of the red team mob. His principled federalism does not apply to social issues. His distaste for spending doesn't extend to war. In cases where his extravagant signaling ended up costing the taxpayer more, he shrugged and blamed the blue team louder.

His campaign will be a vast, Obama-esque blank slate onto which everyone can project their own interpretations of his platitudes. Who knows how he would actually govern.

Yeah this. Ted Cruz is a demagogue that's hypocrital as hell.

Did he vote against TARP and the bailouts? If he did he may be a good man to have run for president, if he voted for TARP and the bailouts he's part of the coporatocracy.

And don't buy the BS that TARP and bailouts were needed or the country would have never recovered economically.

Is it OK to like Cruz and Rand? We all know that the left hates those two the most. That means they are good people.

So far I have learned that he's a hypocrite and for expensive social policies. I'd love some examples of things he voted for, that he should have voted against and vice versa.

I know when something bad happens lately he's usually very loudly against it and alone.

I am a libertarian and consider small-government policy to be fiscal conservatism. I'm pretty sure Cruz has talked about eliminating several agencies and departments of the federal government. Hell, even Rick Perry wanted to eliminate 3 agencies/departments of the fedgov. That's not big government conservatism.

Rand Paul has said and done some disturbing shite in the last couple years. He was my guy before that.

I seriously don't understand the nic picking between Paul and Cruz. Are you guys some Dem trolls? It's like Dems arguing about whether Hillary has bigger tits than Eliz. Warren. Who cares?

Pathetic. All 3 links are the same thing. MSM wants to create a division that isn't there. IE, "oooh, Republicans who hate cats are having a war with Republicans who hate dogs."

It's old school low level journalism.

And Ted Cruz, along with the rest of the neocon base, are big fans of that kind of journalism. Win the nomination, get your arse beat in the general election, and then wonder why you couldn't attract more moderates/independents.

Gee. I don't know. Maybe because you nominated someone that still believes in the "sanctity of marriage" bullshite that is completely contrary to what the American pubic feels. You, random Southerner, may feel differently about the issue. But YOU aren't the deciding vote.

Stop fighting wars you can't win. Nominate Ted Cruz and watch the Dems fricking ROAST him on marriage equality.

It's almost as if Ted Cruz is the your favorite NFL QB of all time. You root for him over his team for whatever reason. I'm a bit like that with Dirk Nowitzki. I'll root for him no matter where he goes in life.

But it seems like there are many who only care about the QB with no regard as to if the team can WIN. "Alright guys! We've got our guy. He totally gets me. He's Reagan-lite! We've got this in the bag. Wait. What? You mean the rest of the country, through various polls, has a remarkably DIFFERENT position than this guy? Hmm. Oh well. I like my chances!"

Please use the term Neocon correctly or don't use the term. It doesn't mean "arch conservative" or "social conservative" or "paleo-conservative", for the record.

I think Neocon is entirely appropriate with Cruz. I mean, what else do you call a guy who has hosted foreign policy bull sessions with Bill Kristol?

Israel is central to Cruz’s foreign policy thinking. He has visited the country three times since becoming Senator. In Des Moines last week he spoke about Israel and he has referred to it from the Senate floor literally thousands of times, according to the Congressional Record. His private Senate office features a large framed photo of himself with Netanyahu. Nearly every speech Cruz makes sooner or later comes around to the issue of “standing for Israel” even when there is no logical reason to make that connection. At the recent Values Voters Summit in Washington he brought the cheering crowd to its feet by shouting “We stand for life. We stand for marriage. We stand for Israel.”
