Considering we are eliminated from the Playoffs the two you mentioned are currently in my mind FA's...that I am not sure if the staff wants to retain or will...

I had it at 12 initially considering I am pretty sure P Rob is gone. Not Ingram hate entirely but at the moment we are 20 mill over the cap and I am not sure if Mark has Reggie dreams of being the feature back elsewhere.

I had MI22 on there for a moment.

Also consider this...the 2 you mention ultimately

1 is a nickelback...who has given up a lot of big plays

the other is a RB who yes has come on strong for 1 and 1/2 seasons now...however he cost a 1st and a 2nd Rounder to get here. He shares the backfield with 3 UDFA RB's who can put up similar numbers. He is also an early down specialist.

Free agents are one thing. Proven commodities, just in differing schemes and environments. UDFAs however have limited potential.

It is very rare that an UDFA develops into one of the best players at his position. Often they become key players on specific teams when used in ways that suit them. Often they're overspecialized or one trick ponies. Or they're jack of all trades, masters of none. We have a good track record with UDFAs to be sure, but we sorely need blue-chip talent to compete.

We're getting outpaced by the Seattles, Niners, even the friggin' Cowboys because they have guys they've drafted higher up contributing. Not bargain bin finds.

We can't live off supplemental players alone. We need to get some real meat in here pronto.

we need to hit on 3 players this year, and I'm not talking about forced starters either.

Niche players in the right system can make an elite program.

PT since 2007 has been a top 5 back in efficiency for years. You can build a team with Pierre Thomas's.

Lance was solid in what he was but windows for players like him are shorter and I think that is what you are alluding to.

Chris Ivory for a season was a top 3 violent runner in football and that helped take us very far mind you had he stayed healthy maybe that playoff run would have turned out differently.

Junior, Tyrunn Walker, Glenn Foster are solid players to have on a DLine...but I agree we need more star power there to compete.

That's just what I'm saying too. You can get some real gems. Lot of really good players. But we need that elite edge. Guys with superior ability, not just the guys who try harder. The guys who don't need to try hard. But can't be lazy, none of that Nick Fairley nonsense.

I get what you are saying that they may not be under contract next year; however, your post was about contributions made by drafted players THIS year. You would shave to include Ingram & P Rob.

Also, your argument for P Rob may be a little flawed in that he has been our most consistent CB (outside of Lewis) this year. Yes, he does give up plus form time-to-time; however, he is almost always there to try and make a play on the ball. That is better than some of the other CBs, that manage to be nowhere in sight.

But, if you are going to insist on keeping P Rob & Ingram off your list bc you don't think they will be here next year; would't you also have to project some of the other players will be around to make a contribution (Sunseri, Rooks, Toon)

He was actually pretty high rated if you take out games 1 and 2. I'll chalk that up on rust and getting used to the system.

He has been very solid, teams have picked on white every single chance they got, even with PRob on the field. The guy has instincts, he just needs to learn how to catch the ball.

Patrick Robinson deal expires at the end of the season along with Mark Ingram.

$9,409,500 Total Rookie Contract Value
$6,085,000 Total Guaranteed Money

2014 Cap Hit
$2,804,333

2015 Cap hits for other CB's
Justin Gilbert $3,208,376
Kyle Fuller $2,421,751
Dre Kirkpatrick $2,155,699
Prince Amukamara $2,045,225
Desmond Trufant $2,041,509
Darqueze Dennard $1,994,725
Jimmy Smith $1,865,425
Bradley Roby $1,738,132
Robert Alford $850,350

Edit: So roughly it would take at least 7-8 million a year to resign both Ingram and Robinson.

Somebody needs to do a list by year of all the LSU players that are still on NFL rosters.

It's only fair considering all the flack LSU fans have taken on this board for suggesting some of these SEC vets might be a worthy option to help this team, as opposed to the Saints penchant for drafting & whiffing on small school projects or prospects with measurables found in the ER.

LSU does a volume though, there's a volume that make it and a volume out the league in less than 3 years.

Yes, we certainly couldn't use a guy like Carl Nicks...

Explain how an UDFA is really any different from a late draft pick either

Some players that were instrumental to the superbowl run that were drafted are not on your list.

Reggie, Harper, Jenkins, Nicks to name a few.
