Huge fan of "Stringer Mandela" Idris Elba. I love most everything he is involved with and I think as James Bond agent 007 he will be simply smashing. I don't get too canon on whether he's white or black, doesn't bother me.
What would bother me is if Sony is doing this for political points or out of pressure, which I believe they are and not because Idris is a truly deserving Brit to play Bond which he is. I can get with Rush on that, but it's fiction, and the actor is incredible, enjoy the entertainment for what it is.

I love how everyone thinks they can up their cred by trashing Rush. Rush is generally dead on the money and those that trash him most likely never actually listen to the show.

If white people can play Jesus in movies, black people can play James Bond in them.
As for the specific question: Idris Elba would make a good Bond but by the time Craig is ready to hang it up, he'll be pushing 50. His time was back in 2006 when they rebooted it.
We already went through a Bond in his 50s with late stage Roger Moore. We don't need a repeat.

Exactly. As long as they have a great actor that can caputure to the realism, grit, and charisma of the character (Craig has done these well), then I'm willing to give a person a chance.

It's okay for black media personalities to be mad that Iggy Azalea being white and not contributing back to black hip hop culture, but a white person mentions one thing about a part traditionally white possibly turning black and allll hell breaks loose.

If he'd gotten pissed when Bond stopped being Scottish, I'd believe that he was just a fanboy purist. He didn't care, at all, that Bond stopped being Scottish. He cares now that Bond might stop being white.

I don't think it became canon until the later books, like On Her Majesty's Secret Service/You Only Live Twice.
In fact, to really make Rush's head explode, it may have even been a partial tribute to Sean Connery (by the time of those books, the movies had started getting made and released).
