That's fricking depressing

And Genesis probably only made it because of mid-80's Phil-era pop shite

Parliament Funk
Public Enemy
Run DMC
Sex Pistols
Patti Smith
Donna Summers
and mos of all Jann Wenner

Because they pale by comparison to Green Day or Joan Jett & the Blackhearts in their contributions to culture.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a steaming pile of crap. It took the pretentious bastards 3 years to induct the Beatles for God's sake. That's like leaving Babe Ruth out of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Rush is finally in, as well.

great band, and very deserving to be in HoF!

Because the RnR HoF is a joke. They have hip hop artists but not SRV, YES, Tull, Croce, etc.

All of those artists SHOULD be in the Hall.

Music, sure. Rock and Roll, not so much.

The very first RRHOF class included Ray Charles, James Brown, Sam cooke, the Everly Brothers, and Fats Domino. The horse was out of the barn right away. Johnny Cash is in the RRHOF. So is Aretha Franklin. You're advocating a definition of rock n roll the hall has never, ever endorsed.

what's wrong with this induction?

If you let Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy in then there should be a hip hop artist being entered every induction

Nothing, I love the Everly Brothers. they just aren't really a rock band.

Well, you could easily make the argument that Run DMC, the Beasties, and Public Enemy are the three greatest hip hop acts, so that's like saying that if we let Zeppelin, Queen, and the Rolling Stones in, we have to let in every blues based British rock band... which they do seem to be trying to do.

They have a little more of a case than the others you listed except for Johnny Cash. I think you could make the same argument for Johnny Cash being in there as you could the Everly Brothers.

But either way, they are A LOT closer to Rock n Roll than Run DMC, the Beasties, and Public Enemy. I'm not knocking their work. It would be insane to not give them respect for what they did.

I just meant the inductions should be more balanced since the hall itself has so much variety

Absolutely disgraceful that these folks are in, but their are others too- more recently, Bill Withers?? The O'Jays??? Seriously? Madonna? Hall of Shame is what it really is...
