I love the idea of sleeping 10-12 hours and just being lazy, but it seldom ever works out. I normally wake up at a somewhat normal time and then lie there thinking of all that I could do if I get out of bed...which I usually do.

What say you?

Same. Plus four kids mean there is really no such thing as a day off.

I do because I love sleeping.

But actually semi regret it because I feel like I wasted a lot of the day.

depends on what i have to do on said day off. if I can get away with it, I'll sleep until 10. Any later and I start feeling like a bum.

I can only sleep 2-4 hours a night, whether I'm off of work or not. I would love to be able to sleep 10-12 hours.

The only time I can sleep late, 8-9am) is if its stormy/cloudy. Otherwise, as soon as the sun starts coming thru the blinds I'm up.

Occasionally I can get up and then fall back asleep if I stayed up late or had trouble falling asleep.

But as far as sleeping until noon like when I was a teenager, those days are long gone.

Ok, it just fricks with my memory a tad.

I envy people that can sleep, though.

Nope. I still get up and workout depending on if I'm on days or nights.

I like routine.

Sparkplug, you need to do some reading up on sleep deprivation and it's effects upon ghrelin, body weight,etc..it affects far more than just brain functions and reflexes,etc..

You can get away with it for short periods in youth, but it's very damaging longterm(lost sleep can never be made up late by oversleep,etc..according to sleep experts), it's sorta day by day accountable.

I heard a General give us in Basic Training a motivational speech as we were only getting about 5 to 6 hrs sleep, telling of he getting by on 2 to 4 hours per night for his tour in Vietnam..maybe he was running on adrenaline or cocoa leaves? F that sh!t!

Sleep experts suggest 8hrs sleep(9 for some folks), and ideally a nap or at least a stress-hormone reducing 30 minutes of closed eyes in your mid-waking hours(exactly..who has the time?)

You need to see someone over your deprivation. May require modifying your bed, diet, lack of tv in bedroom,etc..

The older I get, the less I enjoy/need sleep. Lately, I've been getting up at my normal time. On Saturdays and days off, I enjoy my morning coffee, and a big breakfast, followed by laziness. It's nice.

I love to sleep late on my days off (8:00 is about as late as it gets). But then there's a morning like this and for some strange reason I'm up at 3 on my day off.
