Zidane

ETA:

quote:

Running on to a magical backheel flick from Zidane, Gallas met the ball with his head five yards out but still put it wide.

This is my favorite Zidane moment, straight from a corner. Croatia 2-2 France, Euro 2004. Can't find it on YouTube. It'd be on there if Gallas could get his fricking header on target.

Of those that I watched growing up I'd say Riquelme, Zidane and Zola.

Guys like Maradona and Cruyff are incredible, but I wasn't born when they played/were at their best

ETA: Matt Le Tissier is underrated in terms of technical ability IMO.

Updated. IDK about the music choices in the Riquelme/Zidane ones, but the clips are quality.

Just curious but where would you guys rank Messi?
He seems about as Technical as anyone I've seen play the game

He is way up the scale. A fantastic player and one of the all-time greats. I submitted Bergkamp because to me he is almost perfection. Like another Dutch master, Marco Van Basten..

Enjoy....

Hard to compare. Think he's easily a step down from someone like Zidane, though. Zidane was insanely well rounded and so smooth.

Freddy Adu

I had the opportunity to watch Zidane live in 1998 France. He was smooth. So natural.

Scholes lacked some of the flair of others mentioned but as technically gifted as anyone who played his role.

'You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get. - Zinedine Zidane

ETA: Glassman, Thanks for the excuse to go back and look at old Scholes footage
