I think it's a solid coordinator hire.
This is one of those cases where I think there is a decent chance he'll be a better HC than OC.

His offense led the SEC in scoring so I don't see how that could be good news for UGA.

Maybe, but it will be tough. Bobo was top of the line as far as OC's go.

I think continuity and his role beyond simply coaching the offense is probably the bigger loss. He's a good OC but there are plenty at his level. But his presence in state/at UGA is hard to replace obviously.
