He has to go through waivers, so he can't really choose where he wants to go yet.

Purely from a basketball POV he would fit in nicely on the Pels roster. He is athletic, plays good D and adds needed experience to a young roster.

If someone claims him on waivers, they pick up his current contract from Detroit..... sorry to say but that has a zero percent chance of happening

I can't stand him, and don't want him, but if you could sit down with him and make him understand how to be a role player, he would be a nice asset for this team.
He needs to understand that he can't ever shoot a three, ever, and his mid range jumper should be shot as often as cunningham shoots his. If he watched Cunningham and did that with his ability, he'd be a good nba player.

He really wouldn't fit in unless he could play SF but that expirament has failed several times.

what of being a complete cancer and a-hole in the locker room? That sounds like a great fit.

Fletcher Mackel ?@FletcherMackel
Given Joe Dumars appears to be advising/consulting Mickey Loomis - could @PelicansNBA take flier on Josh Smith?

big if i know.

if you signed him to the minimum, it's not like it's anything to cut him. If he gets his head straight and realizes he fricks up again and another team cuts him, he's pretty much done. That's his only incentive to accept it.
Not that big of a risk for a team this year if they can cut him if he starts being Josh Smith again.

So big that Detroit is taking a $5 million cap hit for the next 5 years. If they couldn't make it happen, we won't.

Bad Tyreke is bad for this team. Normal Josh Smith is Bad Tyreke but he jacks up bad jump shots instead of bad layups.

Hell to the no.

Dude is garbage offensively (although decent defensively) and making $13 million.

Well he wouldn't be making that with anyone else. He'd probably make the minimum this year for whomever picks him up.

That's what he needs to be told. If he can't understand that, he's out of the league most likely.
If you don't like his answers to you telling him how you want him to play, don't sign him. if you like the answers and he comes in and doesn't do what you told him, cut him. His leash is extremely short. His potential, if he's ready to be a big boy and not a dumbass, can really help a team.

Can people stop saying he would be paid 13 million by whoever picks him up this year, Detroit owes him that. He would sign somewhere else for the minimum.
