That makes no sense. They're on the hook for his money still.

That's a $5.2 million stretch...over 5 years.

That the Pistons are going to be paying him to not play there.

How will it work for whoever signs him, money wise?

Did he sleep with someone's wife or something? I know the Pistons are shite but to just release him is odd.

If they'll have him he's probably going to the Rockets. BFF of Dwight, Terrence Jones is injured. The only reason they may not want him is how much of a cancer can he be for the Pistons to have done this.

Whatever he signs for will reduce the amount Detroit owes him, but there's nothing to stop him from being spiteful and playing for the minimum like Andray Blatche did.

That's pretty shocking. He must have put his hands on SVG or something.

No one should want any part of this dude. He sucks and he's a loser.

Dumars giving him that contract should be exhibit A of what a moron he is, but it still scares the frick out of me how Dumars is getting chummy with the Bensons.

That's what i thought. Why would a team give him more than the minimum though. It's not like he's getting more money. It's really just up to him where he wants to go next, well, where he wants to go to teams willing to take him.

He was the worst contract in the league. Worse than EG. Absolutely abysmal.

SVG wanted him gone the moment he signed on.

He will probably sign somewhere for the minimum on a one year deal, try to repair his image, and then some dumbass team will at least give him the MLE (probably more) after this year.

Worse than EG may be a stretch. At least Smith is healthy. Agree that SVG wanted him gone from day 1, but 26 mil owed is a crap ton of money. Figured something drastic must have happened to justify that kind of measure.
