Record last week: (1-0)

Streak: 5 wins in a row

Top performer: Keith Hornsby played in 39 minutes, scored a career high 24 points, went 6/11 from 2pt range, 2/4 from 3pt range, 6/6 from the FT line, had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal against UAB.

Cause for Concern: While Quarterman was able to dish 8 assists to only 2 turnovers, his shooting really struggled this week hitting only 2 of 8 shots from the field. He leads LSU in free throw percentage at 81.3% but is only shooting 32.3% from three and 45% from the field.

Top Team Stat of Week: LSU made 88.9% of their free throws this week after making 16 of 18 against UAB. Hornsby hit 6/6, Mickey 5/7, Quarterman 2/2, and Martin 3/3.

Rankings and Standings: CBS RPI (18th), ESPN RPI (16th), BPI (40th), KenPom (61st), playoffstatus.com tournament chances (75%)

Breaking the trend: Jalyn Patterson was only 4/14 (28.5%) from three entering the week, but in his most extensively used game of his career, he hit 3/6 and really helped push the Tigers over UAB.

Best game by a non Big5 player: Jalyn Patterson played 33 minutes in the absence of Josh Gray. He totaled 11 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 0 turnovers in a very impressive performance.

LSU Opponent who made noise: West Virginia crushed a very good NC State team 83-69 on a neutral court this past week. WVU is now 10-1 with their only loss coming to LSU.

Interesting Stat of the Week: LSU overcame another 11 point deficit on the road against UAB. LSU won their first two true road games for the first time since 1989 with victories over West Virginia and UAB this season.

LSU Scorers this week:
Martin 25
Hornsby 24
Mickey 13
Patterson 11
Quarterman 6

LSU Rebounders this week:
Mickey 8
Martin 6
Quarterman 5
Hornsby 5
Epps 2
Bridgewater 2
Patterson 2
Odo 1

LSU Assists/TO this week:
Quarterman 8/2
Patterson 3/0
Hornsby 2/2
Bridgewater 1/1
Mickey 1/2
Epps 0/1
Martin 0/2

SEC Standings:
Kentucky 12-0
LSU 8-2
Arkansas 8-2
Alabama 8-3
Texas A&M 7-3
Vanderbilt 7-3
Ole Miss 7-3
South Carolina 7-3
Georgia 6-3
Florida 7-4
Tennessee 5-4
Miss St 5-5
Auburn 5-5
Missouri 5-6

Biggest SEC win of week: Kentucky absolutely embarrassed UCLA this week winning on a neutral court 83-44. They held UCLA to 7 points in the first half in one of the most dominating performances I've ever witnessed. Honorable Mention: UGA defeats Seton Hall at home 65-47

Worst SEC defeat of week: Mississippi St has run off 5 straight losses. This past week they lost to (KenPom 186) Arkansas St 69-55 and (KenPom 149) USC Upstate 53-51

I had it on for a few minutes. I think it was 24-0 at one point.

IDK.

Arkansas and South Carolina are both playing good basketball and Florida is starting to play like Florida...

Gonna be lumped up between 2 and 6 this year.

The better West Virginia does, the better it is for us. Here's hoping they make noise in the Big 12.

Our first 4 SEC games will tell you where we stand.

@Mizzou
Georgia
@Ole Miss
Texass A&M

If we are at least 3-1, we will win enough SEC games to get into the NCAA's, imo. If we are 2-2 in that stretch, it will be a struggle to get into the Big Dance. Heaven forbid us losing three of those 4 games.

Agreed. Pretty obvious Kentucky is 1 but there is a group of a few teams we are lumped with for 2.

I think we are better than all 4 of those teams and could potentially win all 4. Would have us on a 12 game winning streak.... We would be dripping confidence if that was able to happen.
