Well it's true. You offered no substance. Only personal invective. And you called my wife "Viet Cong" and "half-Asian". And then you apologized. And I accepted your apology. But people rightly took note and filed it away for future reference.

Oh boo hoo. I was half-heartedly mocking you and clearly out of line. I apologized. I meant it. I can promise you it won't happen again. But feel free to bring it up anytime your eyes get misty.

quote:

I think the melt is hard because people have had their fill. People are tired of being poked in the chest. They are tired of people flipping the furniture. And they are tired of being polite about very important SUBSTANTIVE issues that require strong stances. And on this board, there are those who will not abide a strong reasoned point of view that conflicts with their own. And they start to call names, and then their buddies come running and it turns into an insult-fest. Many people (overwhelmingly liberal) erroneously believe that a cavalcade of Insult somehow trumps a reasoned point. That may be why they self-identify with liberalism in the first place. It doesn't require intellectual rigor, it only requires piss and vinegar.

As I said, this thread was obviously started to poke fun at all of the raging that has been going on here since those two officers were murdered. I think pretty much everyone on this board, to the man, condemned the act as cowardly, despicable, and entirely unhelpful in addressing the "trust issues" that exist between police forces and the populations they serve.

However, I think the plot got lost somewhere between DeBlasio being toast, a bunch of pols having blood on their hands, and the problem of negro terrorism that plagues the US. Listen, I'm not above writing 500 word essays to convey (or rebut)simple arguments, but it's often not necessary.

Your original contention
quote:

De Blasio is fricking toast. Liberalism in Full Bloom-here is your fricking Mayor. You undermine the Rule of Law at every turn. You fricking celebrate black criminality to the point that it is almost fetish and demonize law enforcement accordingly and then pretend that Liberalism has nothing to do with it. You fricking condone violence and property damage and make every excuse known to man for pathological criminal behavior and then you have the fricking AUDACITY to act surprised when the inevitable happens.

is so full of hyperbole, strident generalizations, and "piss and vinegar" and so lacking in "intellectual rigor" that it hardly merits a response.

I don't know much about DeBlasio. He looks lurchy, creepy, and effeminate to me. What I've read of his politics, I don't like. I also just don't like the cut of his jib. But it's not a Mayor's duty to back his police force or its union "no matter what". It's not out of line for a Mayor to question possibly heavy-handed police tactics and lend an ear to a significant portion of his city's citizens when they have concerns about how the Armed and Shielded officers assigned to maintain the peace and protect the innocent actually employ force. To lay the actions of one apparently disturbed individual at the feet of a politician who simply questioned some elements of police training, tactics, and culture is beyond asinine and does not deserve a serious response.

I live this board but sometimes I enjoy a really good melt. It's entertaining as hell. Yesterday was just that.

It's ok to get crazy every then and now.

If you keep stalking me, I'm RA'ing so hard it'd be as if shooting my double barreled shotgun in the air.

If he were here, I'd ask Chris to stand up and escort you outside. Instead, I'll keep fighting to keep you out of chains.

This is another statement people often make on here in regards to instances where politicians from the north are commented upon.

When you are the mayor of one of the largest cities on the planet, your voice carries MUCH farther than many governors.

In the world of politics, it would be idiotic to ignore that.
Scruffy, that doesn't fit the world view of northern liberals. We southerns are supposed to be illiterate and only know what we have been told by our elders and preachers.

Is it ok if I say "Boo Hoo" too or is this part of "the "negro terrorism" conspiracy? Because your melt down about my thread that " hardly merits a response" went on for about eight paragraphs.

Apology accepted. I laughed out loud at this (Well done):
quote:

However, I think the plot got lost somewhere between DeBlasio being toast, a bunch of pols having blood on their hands, and the problem of negro terrorism that plagues
the US.

As to the part where you, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A SUBSTANTIVE RESPONSE TO ANY OF MY POSTS, I say we will have to agree to disagree. There is personal responsibility and there is moral complicity.

Fail, broseph. My one post of eight paragraphs had to address your OP, my reasoning behind denying your OP a serious treatment, and my general disregard for your opinions (and those of your like-minded peers) on the matter at hand. I'd say I covered the three fairly efficiently.

There is personal responsibility and there is moral complicity.

Yes. And to assign either to the politicians in question puts you right back in the "asinine" corner.

I guess you don't even notice at this point that you are unable to respond without insult.
quote:

Moral Complicity (n.)

1.Association with or participation in an act that is, or is perceived to be, criminal or immoral. One is complicitous when one promotes, encourages or unduly benefits from practices or institutions that are morally or legally suspect.

"WHAT DO WE WANT ? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!" Followed by...you guessed it...Dead Cops.

Regardless,it amuses me that the same people who believe that an entire race of people have some kind of moral complicity for something that occurred 150 years ago, feel like they have no moral complicity for what they did this week.

But sure. If you want to abolish the entire concept of MORAL COMPLICITY-sign me up.
I'm all about looking FORWARD.
