Would you send your kids to Scotlandville High? Calling yourself a magnet school is only part of the equation here.

Scotlandville isn't strictly magnet iirc. Isn't it a regular public school with a magnet program?

The PC police made them change it to the Lee High Patriots before it shut down. It's going to keep that name I believe.

Does anyone know current requirements to get into the magnet program?

For Lee (it's different than BRMHS), you have to fill out an interest survey, submit a portfolio (not sure what exactly is necessary for that, but I think it's work related to whichever of the STEAM major subjects you're interested in), have a teacher recommendation letter, and then an interview.

I don't think you're required to have a 2.5 GPA to get into the school, but from what I've heard you have to maintain a 2.5 to stay in the school.

That's disappointing.

I drove by the other day and it looked like it was coming along nicely.

That being said, it will probably be shite like the rest of Baton Rouge public schools.

I think they may be trying to get some of the kids who are interested in the arts, math and science but may not have the 2.5 GPA for the last 4 semesters and certain scores on LEAP tests that BRMHS is pretty strict about.

The application process for Lee High is much more difficult than it is for BRMHS, so those that do apply will probably be more motivated to stay in.

This school is brought to you by the same system and idiots that made the rest of the schools what they are.

When questioned about their poor performance, the answer is always "We need more money" They know that deflection will shut the public up and protect their jobs. It does not, however, answer the question.

Judge John Parker's ruling, more than any other entity or action, has made the system what it is today.

Absolutely. A horrible racist man that lived 150 miles away destroyed a functional system.

That being said, not much has been done since 1982 to uplift the system, restoring it to it's former glory.

I do realize it is a little more complicated. The basis of everything is lack of personal responsibility and consequences for individual actions.

One of my groomsman went to scottlandville.

He said that its 2 schools basically into 1.

They keep the magnet kids and classes on the opposite side of the schools. Everything is seperate. Seperate classes, Seperate lunch times, everything

The only time that the magnets and regular students get together is for sports, band, dances, etc

But when u graduate you still have "Scotlandville magnet high school" on your diploma
