I'm the only one of 3 to see and spend time with my parents this Christmas

My brother would rather spend every Christmas down in Florida at his wife's parents beach house (and hasn't been home for it in about 8 years since he started dating his now wife)

Yes. I think instead of judging people who don't like Christmas for reasons that are very valid to them and saying they must be miserable people all around with sucky lives, the better thing for TIGERLEE and the Christmas lovers would be to look at their own lives and be grateful they've never been given a reason to dislike the holidays so much. And for people like me to look at my life and recognize the gifts we've been given as well. Some people don't have their children to spend Christmas with at all. I remind myself of this and pull out a happy Christmas Eve and morning every year. The afternoon is rough but it ends quickly at least.

I'm apathetic towards it. Don't hate it. Don't love it.

speaking of, since i never have lived in a wintery wonderland, perhaps that is a reason why i detest a lot of the decorations

also i really do hate christmas music. i think the little drummer boy is the only one that doesn't make me want to slap myself

Didn't you just have a thread about Christmas songs you hate?

Clearly your prior thread shows your own propensity to hate a part of Christmas, so you not being able to 'figure out' folks that don't like the entirety or majority seems odd.

Christmas has real historical roots just like any other cultural tradition. You would think people would just acknowledge it brings positive actions more than usual than negative, and let it be based on that alone.

Depends on your perspective. I have a complete opposite perspective of it. Guess my perspective cancels out yours.

I didn't say glaring, but if you think that is more appropriate you can go with it.

It's not that I hate Christmas. I just don't get excited for it anymore; I'm particularly not a fan of Christmas Music though, Idk why, just something about it.

I'm sure once I have kids of my own, then I will start looking forward to Christmas much more.

How is it rooted in pagan traditions? Paganism in itself can be difficult to trace back to its roots. Why Christmas? Also, commercialization is not some outside force beyond our world lol. How is it any different than the other 264 days of the year where commercialization is rampant? I find it funny everyone wants to separate science, and technology from religion, nature, and emotion. Those came from the same thing, HUMANS, and we dont know where the other aspects from these traditions came from exactly. We can trace back traditions, but we cant really know(empirically) if it has a divine or spiritual component.

Another thing is travel. If you have to travel across the country to see family, you'd know how stressful that is in itself. I hate flying more than most so that's even worse. If I lived right next to my parents' home then it would be no big deal.
