It is clear that Jimmy Graham caught the pass and either broke the plane or was stopped an inch short of the goal line. He is then stood up by two defenders and did not advance or he would have scored. He was pushed back by the defenders to the two yard line, he did not retreat on his own volition. The ball was then stripped. So the worst case scenario fro the Saints is first and an inch to score.

It is likely Graham thought the play was over when he was stood up and driven back. There was no reason fro him to think otherwise. He was clearly not trying to move forward and the play should have been stopped.

The league office will undoubtedly admit some degree of error tomorrow but what good will that do? The officials continue to miss the obvious. The play was only reviewed because of the turnover issue, not whether he broke the plane. So how could they not see his forward progress was stopped?

Graham's an idiot then if he thought he could just stop cause he thought the play was over. Give it your all until you hear the Refs blow that whistle. Don't assume anything.

Agreed, but the officials still should have called if forward progress and Saints ball if no TD.

If it had been Gronk and the Pats, or Thomas and the Broncos, we would be seeing a lot of buzz about changing the rules to make forward progress reviewable. Not gonna happen though, small market/hated by NFL. Just gotta swallow it.

It will be interesting to hear of the league response to this play as surely the Saints will submit it for weekly officials review.

What frustrates me more is that Graham is 6'7 and 260 lbs but he can't just fall over or roll into the endzone. If that was Gronkowski, he would have steamrolled them for that TD, Graham quit moving his feet and paid for it.

Graham played basketball. I have noticed that this year he is making catches rite by the goal line and grabbing the football and "poking" his elbows out and swinging them back and fourth looking like a basketball player trying to use his instinct when all he has left is his pivot foot to get in the endzone that way. It has worked sometimes, as he just uses his strength to wiggle into the endzone. But as the above poster stated, just do what Gronk would do. USE YOUR LEGS and fight to get to the endzone. Dont just stop and try to use your upper body strength to get in. Graham has to work on using his feet to get in the endzone when he is close to it, bucause i have seen numerous times this year where he was short by an inch because of this. And now it caused a fumble to happen (even though we all know it was a TD)

this was not a forward progress issue IMO. he was struggling to get the last 6 inches and the ball came out after like 2 seconds, and he wasnt even moving backward. no way they could call it dead.

Disagree. He was moved backward two yards by the defenders before the fumble occurred. There may have been an initial push when he caught it e ball but then all momentum was backward initiated by the defense.

It's like any other rule in professional or college football. They can call or ignore anything and NEVER have to worry about losing their job, being suspended, or being fined.

They just do whatever the hell they want to do without any consequences. Whether they're cheating or just suck, the officiating these days is pathetic!!!

Not nearly as pathetic as our fan base. You people are blind. Soft arse Jimmy bitch fumbled on the goal line in clutch time with the game and season and playoffs on the line. Winners don't do that. Elite players don't do that. The guy is a soft little gator arming bitch and this fan base is blind and stupid and had been making excuses and sucking his dick. I'm tired of it.
