Have to admit, you have a point.

I like when people do stuff like this so people on this board can pretend that it doesn't bother them.
Meh, "bothers"? Not so much.

It is disappointing behavior though. It's akin to an airline passenger deliberately traveling unwashed and without deodorant. It serves no purpose except to make others less comfortable.

It's sad these folks are not happy and comfortable enough with their own choices so as to feel need to make others unhappy with them. If this lady was pleased with her own belief-set, she would place something honoring atheism, or atheists.

Weird person. Weird concept.

Do you?

I've never set up a nativity scene, but I've also never seen one I thought was trying to garner attention for anything other than the birth of Christ. Or any articles about people placing one in the middle of some unrelated holiday season.

On private property, no I do not.

On government property, yes I do.

Evangelical athiests are simply a type of postmodernists. We are in a strong postmodern period that looks to get worse before it gets better.

i despise millitant atheists for this reason

however, this is about government and religion. i want religion minimized in my government. if governmetn allows space for one religion, it must allow space for all religions.

FWIW, non-religious people feel the same way about devoutly religious people.

Yep. Sounds crazy.

So now you are saying you are Islam? I know who my God is and sadly you don't. You are to busy doing Satan's work and your hatred for Christianity is clear as day. He could care less if you call yourself an atheist as long as you serve him....which you are doing. (I don't know you but my assumption is from your "hail satan" response.)

First, not defending nativity scenes, but those that display them believe and worship Christ. This woman openly admits she doesn't worship satan. It's a publicity stunt and you know it.

They should just change their name to the 'Church of Atheism' to avoid confusion.

They are giving Satan a bad name.

define "gets worse", because this is the best time to be a human being on earth in recorded history

I don't see it that way. I see it as an expression of faith. Most believers would want that expressed to as many as possible to reach as many as possible. I usually don't even know who has placed a nativity when I see one in a public place. If they were trying to seek attention I'm sure the name of the group would be a prominent display. They have to know their nativity during the Christmas season doesn't gain the media attention of a Satanic cross display during Christmas so they would need to do something else if they want attention.

Regardless, my problem is more with the fact that these people don't even believe in their display. The only possible intent is to gain attention. At least a religious group placing a nativity actually believes in what they're doing. Maybe some are simply looking for attention, but many others are trying to display their beliefs. This cannot be the case in this instance.

Do your own research. This happens often enough to shed a bad light on atheists. I don't care how many times. You do.
I would think it would be your research, considering you're the one making a claim to try and justify your sweeping, blanket characterization of a diverse group of people who, in fact, share only one thing in common.

And you obviously care, or you wouldn't have made the statement.

My goal is to coax you into learning something I already know. I'm not surprised that you're resisting, though.

She's obviously philosophically invested in the Satanic Temple thing. It means something to her, for whatever reason, and that's what is motivating her.

I merely responded to your assertion this doesn't happen often. It happens enough.

I saw it.

You don't think the image of the serpent is representative of Satan? All they're missing is an apple to complete the alliteration.
