The Rand Paul/Marco Rubio shade war continued Sunday morning, when Senator Rubio (R-FL) basically said that if Senator Paul (R-KY) likes Obama’s Cuban policy so much he should marry it.

“If he wants to become the chief cheerleader of Obama’s foreign policy, he certainly has a right to do that,” Rubio said on This Week. “I’ll continue to oppose the Obama foreign policy on Cuba because I know it won’t lead to freedom and liberty for the Cuban people, which is my sole interest here.”

Paul and Rubio mixed it up this week after they came out on different sides of Obama’s surprise détente with Cuba. Rubio has been the most vocal opponent of Obama’s normalization of relations with the Castro-run island country, while Paul has suggested this was tantamount to isolationism.

Rand has done the honorable thing and backed his President. It's clear Rubio is taking the low road along with Jeb and the establishment. If all these republicans fell in line with Obama we could move Cuba along much faster.

Sometimes I wish Obama could put his political enemies in jail and then send them on a raft back to Cuba.

Sounds to me like Marco Rubio is an isolationist.

Rubio is mad because the old people of Cuba told him to be mad at Castro and never allow negotiation.

Look, the Cuban thing is personal to Rubio, and I can see where he comes from. I agree with everything he says, but I can also see where after 50 years its OK to try a different approach. I can see both sides, and its one where you just hope for some good to come out of it all....cause the Cuban leadership has been as evil as it gets...

Truthfully, what is the difference between Rand Paul's foreign policy ideology and Obama's? Aren't both of them firmly in the "blame America first" camp?

I don't think it's inherently honorable to back the President or inherently dishonorable to oppose him. Someone who believes it's wrong to engage dictators should say so.

RP legitimately agrees with Obama, and the honorable part is that he's willing to say so even though it's politically inconvenient.

Normalizing relations with Cuba will bring freedom and prosperity much more quickly than the same old stale policy we have had for the past 50 years.

Right. I don't give a rip about him agreeing or disagreeing with the president but he's backing this because it's the right thing to do.

Exactly what I was going to post.

When Rubio first came into the limelight a couple years ago (or so), he was one of my favorites. Seemed like a very genuine, straightforward, tell-it-like-it-is person. Now, he's uber-political. He's bought in to the Washington status quo, and now he's just another pawn.

Paul stands alone.

Token, you want Obama to put his political enemies in jail?

Which reminds me, what is a good bag of crack cocaine going for these days?

I'd be willing to bet that Rubio's stance on Cuba was formed long before he was elected US Senator. He would probably be disowned by his entire family if he took any other stance.
