Wife is cooking for Xmas: turkey recipe needed

For reasons that are too stupid to go into, our Xmas traditions are turned on their ear and my wife wants to cook a turkey. We have a 15 pound turkey defrosting at the moment. She doesn't want to smoke it but wants it savory.
I want to add here that my wife is not exactly the most amazing of cooks, but she is good with science and can follow directions.
This is something that she wants to do, so I thought i would solicit recipes (or links) to pass along to her.
May god have mercy on all of us (I kid, I kid)

Salt & pepper.
Shove a stick of butter up his arse.
Lay some strips of bacon across the top.
Cook in the oven til the little thingie pops up.
