But I'm going to ask it anyway. Why are they called the New York Giants/Jets when both teams are located in New Jersey?

The Giants and the Jets aren't even in the same state that they are named for though.

Aren't irving and Arlington suburbs of Dallas?

I think it is a little odd that the Giants and jets play in a completely different state than their namesakes

You're welcome to encourage the owners to move to NY and pay the worst taxes in the country.

Santa Clara is about 100 miles away from San Francisco.

Dude, I'm not advocating for anything. My point is to the people in here trying to be e-cool jumping on the OP for asking a legit question.

ETA: if it's tax purposes, what's wrong with just saying that?

I'm 99% sure that the Jets corporate office is in New York.

Eta: nope, I'm wrong.

Washington DC doesn't really have a team. Fedex Field is in Maryland.

Because nobody wants to be associated with New Jersey. Why do you think the Nets moved?

East Rutherford NJ is an suburb of New York. You can see the city from the stadium. Historically both teams were located and played in the city. And yes, it's a dumb question. A). Google is your friend B). The distance from Manhattan to MetLife stadium is around 15 miles. Not much different than the Dallas Cowboys being in the suburb of Arlington. The 49ers are nowhere near San Fransico and the Redskins are barely within the suburbs of DC, but yeah, let's change all franchise names if they aren't located with city limits

I wish that Manhatten stadium happened. Would have been awesome.

It didn't even need to be that big. 65,000 tops.
