What a wonderful place to visit if you want to get ganked or killed.

City is NO WHERE as dangerous as 94'

Wut?

You realize I can and do ride my bike all over the city now(don't really go downtown/nine) in spots that in 94' I couldn't even stop at stop signs? shite my running route puts me through the old melph and he melp high rise and I don't even blink an eye. Wouldn't have dreamed of doing that in 94'

You right bro.

But I would like to see National Guard patrolling FQ. A guy in camo holding an M16 is a pretty good deterrent for opportunistic thuggery.

No doubt. Get the national guard in.

Not sure how well that will go with the oblivious tourist when they hit conti and bourbon drinking a shark attack and see a guy in camo with an m16. That could be a put off, but watching the 5pm news would do the same as well...

Correct me if I am wrong but in 94 weren't all of the blacks mostly contained to certain areas and post-Katrina they spread out a lot more? The reason I mention that is because before you probably knew you would get shot in certain areas and while those areas are safer these days now it is more likely to happen in places it would not have back then.

They are still concentrated in the same areas, hasn't changed much in that regard. And you still find "bad" areas within blocks of affluent areas. City is like a checkered board when it came to that. They did tear down some of the worst of the housing problems but the same people still live in the same vacinity/neighborhood. overall the city is just much much safer. The projects were torn down and built back more like apartment communities. It took away the "cut" and what they call in the city "courts" which were almost inaccessible unless you were a criminal.

It seems like every poster on the OT that lives in NOLA and has for a long time has been robbed at least once so I don't know if it is unrealistic.

Where did you live in NO that the violence was so pervasive that you thought to yourself, "My only option is to move to Bunkie."?

Northshore? No. Destrehan? No. Springfield? No.

BUNKIE!!!!! That's the answer!

Also I think it was 1994 the city earned the title "murder capital of the free world" and the thugs loved that moniker and took it to heart so in 1995 we actually had double the murders as 94'. It was insane and a killing field to say the least.

You're in the wrong thread.

He's worried about his kids getting shot on Bourbon. That's an unrealistic fear.

According to the Consent Decree, NOPD SWAT can not even be on the street carrying long rifles. Thanks US Justice Department.
