I agree with the shameless pel, although unfortunately I think the horse is out the barn on this season. replacing Monty now is likely to bring worse results

how they can come out at home and sleepwalk while their opponent is playing like their hair is on fire every single play is beyond my understanding. Last night was completely unacceptable and I can assure you that that was the 100% opinion of everyone in my part of section 103

Tyreke gets away with anything he does over Gordon because he stays healthy and doesn't break down. That's the issue though, people just use Gordon as the scapegoat now, but if we could move tyreke for anything worth while I would do it in a heartbeat. Somehow rondo, who is a top 5 pg, gets traded to Dallas for peanuts

To me the thing that stood out as why Monty needs to go has nothing to do with what the Pelicans did. Stotts had his team full court pressing up 20+ and 30+ trying to crush any potential fight out of us. We usually let teams back in games rather than have the coaching staff instruct the team to pile on more.

I was looking at Dallas' coaching staff last night because Carlisle is considered right up there with Pops and Thibs as a great strategic coach. Dwayne Casey and Terry Stotts are 2 of his assistants that have taken the teams they took over to the next level. Unfortunately the cupboard looks pretty bare. Darrell Armstrong doesn't have much in his bio other than former player, and the one decent resume is Monte Mathis, but he's given credit for the bottom quarter of the league defense they run. the fact of the matter is that this team is still in the hard sell portion of their relationship to the city and the fans. As a STH I do not expect the team to go 82-0 every year. What I do expect is that they will play hard, play smart, and have a plan that the players can/will execute

last nights game mattered
all these home games matter
the fact that the team didn't seem to feel that it did is a slap in the face. Portland is better than they are, that much is clear. But to get dominated like that from one end to the other, from start to finish, is what it is...unacceptable

and that's on the coach

Carlisle tree would be good.

I would love to poach Budenholzer from the ATL ownership mess.

An Alvin Gentry disciple would be a place to look too. He was underrated in PHX.

It's just hard to get the right guy. Carlisle, Stotts, and Casey all washed out of their first jobs. So did Doc Rivers.

Really just give me a guy who is on the same page as the GM and Will hire great assistants. Would love to see a team with an identifiable identity, even if I am not the biggest fan of it.

Coaching in the NBA is really fickle. It really depends on the players you have (obviously) and how they react or buy into coaching.

Don't make this an us vs. them anyone who doesn't want to fire Monty immediately wants to keep him because that's not the case at all. If we hire Karl tomorrow and the Pels have a game like this are you going to be ready to fire him too because it's unacceptable? When your 2 best players are a combined 6 for 26 and score about 27 fewer points than they normally average, that's hard to overcome even with superior coaching.

we got the wrong spurs assistant

shite even the guy in Philadelphia has them playing hard, at least on defense

Monty Williams has zero respect among league observers...it's not just here. I'm sure he's a nice guy and honestly I understand why the players like him. he's not the answer here though

you mentioned a gentry assistant...I'd rather just hire gentry

I don't want him fired midseason
I said that on my first post in this thread

That would be a disaster in my opinion. I want a new coach next season

I'll take a win over Houston over Portland just to keep the Rocket-tards away.

It was probably difficult to come down from that euphoric high of beating the Rockets.

The 72-10 Bulls lost to the Knicks by 32.

Fire Phil. Trade Pippen.

If you remember, that was just MJ mailing it in against his future team.

They are 13th in points per possesion on defense.

With that roster.

Even allowing for some difference because of the schedule, that they are 4 points per 100 possessions better than the Pelicans is embarrassing.

cgrand you do realize we have to make a decision on our STs before knowing if Monty is fired if we wait til year end? I have great seats and love my rep. frick off to anyone who wants to call out my fandom, but I'm 100% not doing another season with Monty. That means me having to guess if Monty is going to be back? Wonderful.

I got hooked when they moved here but I hear what you're saying

I sold my saints season tix the last 2 years so I could make certain I kept my pels seats. I think what bothers me the most is that the die hards will always be there, but with shite piles like last night it will be tough to reel in the casual fan

I'm tired of sitting in a half empty arena
