Why were they arresting him for such a relatively minor offense?
Loss
of

taxes.
The city wants then to do this, much like speeding ticket quotas.

Or....he could have been suffering from a mental illness that drove him to kill his girlfriend first, then the two cops, and then himself. So I say you're just blowing smoke out of your arse.
You guys are unbelievable. They guy ADMITTED ON THE INTERNET that he was planning to murder police officers specifically in retaliation for Brown/Garner. If you deny it, you're blinded by your own ideology.

Of course it doesn't. But then no one is arguing that it does.

The point is that he had a severe untreated mental illness that, as a result of the warped messages he was getting from the media, made him act on his desire to murder police.
The two things aren't mutually exclusive. No one has said that they are.
Fricktard.

Yeah, it's called premeditated murder, jackass.
It's astonishing to me that the liberal idiots are now trying to make the murderer a victim because the murderer shares viewpoints with other liberals. You liberals really are the lowest form of humanity.

We should fight fire with fire. Burn these liberal scumbags out of their holes and squish them like rats fleeing a burning cane field. We own the vast majority of the nations privately owned firearms and make up about 50% of the population. It's not like the leftist could put up much of a resistance, for now.
Why do you think they have generous welfare programs that encourage making more minority babies? Why do you think they drool over opportunities to restrict gun ownership? They know that their grand society can't be achieved with the conservative free thinker still in a position to oppose them.
So you want a one party government?
So you admit to being no better than a common dictator? You really wonder why some question the motives of people that think like you?? You are honestly hinting at genocide.
Hopefully you are taken out the gene pool before you can be dangerous.

I'm yammering about your parsing of the homicide of a human.
Either you don't understand the term parsing, or you haven't read my posts.

the troubling similarities between Luis Rodriguez and Garner should AT THE LEAST force PDs to incorporate safety training. Both men died horrible deaths. Both were unnecessary. Both men continued to be subdued after loss of consciousness. Both situations should entail PD liability, if not criminal, then civil. No one should be killed for simply not producing ID or buying single cigarettes.

My suspicion is this guy, like Luis Hernandez, had significant underlying medical issues --- OSA, Asthma, Coronary/Myocardial Disease --- and rapidly lost conscious in a restrained, chest-compressed, prone position. The cops did not recognize extremis. They continued actions after loss of consciousness and should be held liable in some way.

The fellow died through a scenario very similar to Luis Rodriguez. The weight of several bodies dogpiling an obese, unhealthy victim with arms pinned behind his back basically crushed the breath out of him. It was wholly unnecessary in both cases. It should at least be a learning experience for the cops.
In cases where the suspect's hands are successfully cuffed, if pressure continues, the cops should be prosecuted. May say something about equipment. Standard handcuffs for a 400lb man may force his arms so far back as to be dangerous. Perhaps a different design cuff would help.
But erroneously identifying cause of death won't contribute to a constructive solution.

OK - now you;ve done it - you have used a 'wall of words' to completely eviscerate his stupid utterances. He will now not respond to you - If he does he will just repeat another 4 word phrase with a noble sounding subject.
I have officially quit expending energy to deconstruct these people's arguments - they don't have the intellectual honesty to actually debate any issue to which their political ideology is emotionally dedicated.
All they want is a duel of sound bytes.
I don't play that game.
These imbeciles don't read - cannot understand logic - refuse to accept anything other than their warped ideology.
It is fruitless to point out their hypocrisy and faulty reasoning.

Do you get this angry at all the murders committed that can be partially attributed to the easy accessibility of guns in this country?

Do you get this angry over the state of mental health care in this country when these types of acts are committed by obviously mentally disturbed individuals?!

If only this were in Chicago and not NY. Everything would have been different.

You've read into it what you want so that you're back to the same ideals you had before you watched a cop kill a guy on video.
Your response to the Garner Grand Jury announcement was "FTP". It's not like you are a willing to make a fair assessment here. You are essentially an anti-police advocate who runs around saying "FTP". I guess you would feel pretty shitty and attempt to deflect blame away from those who share your views after two cops are killed.
And here you are condemning NC because he is explaining what happened in a literal factual way, almost like you are sad that he is blowing up your simplistic narrative BY INTRODUCING FACT to this conversation. And then you double down by making the case that he likes it when cops kill citizens. That's dishonest.
And then Dumbass shows up and says:When did selling singles out of cigarette packs untaxed become a capital offense?
Lots of us were deeply troubled by it at the time. The disproportionate nature of it pissed me off. I was shocked and expressed as much here. But it's a shitty thing to do to act like it was an intentional murder of a man. Any one of those cops would sell his firstborn to have that day back, I guarantee. And personally , from watching the video and reading the reports, I think the Garner family should win a civil case against the NYPD in an excessive force case. I have a REALLY hard time with the simple fact that a guy can end up dead for selling loosies AND FEW WERE MORE ADAMANT ABOUT THAT THAN I. To me there was a failure of imagination here, a good cop could have descalated that and then a guy making a living would still be alive .And Garner should have factored in his health issues, complied with the officers, and he'd be eating turkey with his family this week, and two cops would be eating with theirs.
Many of us saw this building, spoke out against those fanning the flames with RACIAL HATRED and ANTI-COP HYSTERIA, and warned what would happen if we continued on with lazy generalities like "FTP". We shook our head with amazement when De Blasio and others "normalized" black criminality and violent speech . And now we have two dead cops. Congratulations. You "won".

quote:Yeah. All he got out was "I can't..." then some gargle type of noise. Then the choke hold was released and the same guy pressed down on his head / face... couldn't tell where his knee was.
At no time when Garner was saying "I can't breathe" was there a hand or arm on his throat.

It looked excessive to about 97% of people that saw it. Of that there is NO doubt.
But let's not slam a guy for introducing the facts of that video. You can decide whether you think it is excessive force or not and I will join you, but let's not debate fact.

One other fact in the video that many people ignore is the guy recording saying Garner wasn't selling cigarettes and that he had helped break up a fight. Garner says the same things. So if that is true, what was he being arrested for?
