Lsut81....I have always agreed with you and consider you one of the most rationale people on this board. But I have to disagree with you on this topic. DeBlasio simply did not have the officers back on this from the get go. His initial comments should have put the flames out...but instead he fanned them causing a continued backlash against police officers. Instead of leading, he was following!!

But the focus is entirely on "dream", not "result" or "attainment". The dream is wonderful, but if ascribed methods have no chance of attaining the dream, we've got a problem. Republicans tend to be solution focused, but that limits extent of the dream. It can produce a limited-sight vision. Both sides have merits. Both have vulnerabilities.
A major difference, as I see it, is GOP willingness to grant American individuals ability to pursue their own dreams. The GOP is willing to empower American exceptionalism. Dems often attempt to squelch it. While Dems have traditionally been more mindful of individual rights, etc. (Unfortunately of late, Dems are falling away from that tradition).

Thank you for a rationale and thought out response.
I can see how he didn't have the officers backs, as many think he should have. But I don't associate that with him having blood on his hands.
I don't like the man and think he is a piece of shite for other reasons, but I think putting blame on him for a maniacs doings is uncalled for.
