2: Memphis
4: Houston
6: Dallas
7: San Antonio
8: New Orleans

With nearly a third of the season in the books, that is absolutely amazing.

Yep...

And the Mavs just got better adding Rondo.

Conley, Harden (more of PG than Beverely), Rondo, Tony Parker, and Jrue Holiday are the PGs in that division. Thats just nasty.

Harden does handle the ball most of the time, and he leads the team in assists. Not that crazy to say.

What is the definition of a point guard, and how does Beverley fit it better than Harden?

Come on, Rondo is the best passer in the half-court in the league right now and plays much better defense than Nelson or Harris. Yeah he is struggling with his shot and has some past locker room issues, but there is no denying he is an upgrade from a facilitating point guard perspective.

Mavs lost depth and Ellis will be worse without the ball in his hands. Mavs may have improved, but it's not cut and dry.

Hes pretty much the PG on that team, especially on offense. Beverley guards the other teams PG, but Harden pretty much takes the ball up the court and averages 6.7 assists compared to Beverley's 3.2 assists.

And the lineup that has played the 2nd most minutes for the Rockets is Harden, Terry, Ariza, Tarik Black, and Motiejunas.

LOL at 2nd most minutes

And in that lineup Terry is the PG

By you idiots definition, Lebron is a PG

The guy said Harden was a PG to make his point that the Southwest PGs are so great.

Its irrelevant...Even with Beverley in that number, the southwest has great PGs.

shite...why not look at the PFs?

Davis
Dirk
Duncan
Z-Bo
Some dude in Houston

Depth is overrated once you get to the postseason, 12 of the last 15 champions used a primarily 7 or 8 man rotation during the postseason.

Ellis will handle the ball less, but it should be offset by the increased number of open midrange jumpers he'll get. And you'll still see plenty of pick and roll with Dirk/Ellis in crunch time.

So your definiton of point guard is shortest guy on the floor? LeBron does not take the ball up the court every play, so that is a horrible point.

As amazing as it is, let's not forget that the pels would not be in if OKC hadn't hit the injury wall at full speed.

I hate to burst your bubble, but modern basketball doesn't have a real 1-5. It's the reason why the All-Star game only has guards and forwards now. Harden is MUCH closer to the traditional point guard than Patrick Beverley is. Period. Neither of them are a traditional point guard or a traditional shooting guard. They are guards with roles that have developed with the modern game.

Ellis likes the ball in his hands. Rondo is only effective with the ball in his. Ellis is also a decent passer and Nelson can shoot. Rondo can't shoot at all.

The Celtics are better on offense when Rondo is on the bench, believe it or not.

As for his defense, he hasn't been great the past couple of years. He's been okay, but he is not like he used to be on defense.

I mean, the Mavs already had the best offense in the NBA. They didn't need an upgrade there. At best, the offense stays the same in terms of ppg and efficiency. But more likely, the offense will get a bit worse.

And while Rondo is an upgrade defensively, he's not a shut down defender anymore. Maybe he wasn't giving his best effort. Who knows.

But I can see this backfiring on the Mavs...
