I don't understand why they would give up on Mett. He's looked solid so far. Maybe they want him to ride the bench a year or two and will use Cut as a placeholder?

It's hard to be a Titans fan.

The Titans hopefully won't be giving up much in this deal. If it's a 6/7th round pick, I actually like it. He'll be the starter for a year or two while we decide personnel moves to rebuild. Mett never needed to be thrown to the fire this year coming off his knee injury. It's best for him and the franchise for him to sit and learn if Webster thinks he's the guy for the future.

Ugh. First impression is this blows up in our face though.

And as a Titans fan, I honestly do not want us to use a top 3 on a QB this year. This roster has so many holes, whatever QB gets back there is going to get killed and have to get into shootouts to win games. I'd rather see continued efforts to strengthen both lines of scrimmage and get a franchise MLB and CB on defense.

IMO, best scenario is we trade back and get two first round picks. This roster needs a compete rehual and that's not gonna happen with one top pick unless it's an Andrew Luck type pick.

That's not a bad deal if Chi eats a lot of the contract. Maybe Tenn could send Mett to the Bears so he can throw to Marshall and Jeffrey

I hope not. I think most people would really like to see Mett as backup in Nashville for the next couple of years while the roster is being rebuilt. I don't think Cutler is a bad option at all as a bandaid for the next year or two. It's not gonna cost the Titans much at all for an average starting QB, which we haven't had in years.

Because he would be an average QB to stand in the next couple of years and we won't continue to be 2-14.

It's a temporary solution. I don't think anybody would expect him to be a long-term answer.

Only problem with Mett sticking around as a backup is it could be a few years before he starts again. Cutler is only 30-31 I think, so relatively young. If he strikes hot with Tenn (likely won't happen) then Mett could be stuck on the bench.

And you're convinced anybody on that roster currently is?

Sorry but I don't want to throw Mariota or Jameis back there next year for their sake or ours.

Cutler is an upgrade at the position and it's going to cost next to nothing. Again, temporary solution. It's growing on me as a bandaid to our perpetual QB issues.

Another franchise with a shitty O-line and incompetent staff. The coaches want him so they can blame him for all of the organization's failures in 3 years.

I was pissed when Whisenhunt chose Tennessee over Detroit, but now we can laugh at him (yeah, I know Nashville is a better place to live than Detroit).

You are being delusional here. Have you seen Cutler recently? He can't even throw simple passes.

I'm being delusional... Are you saying you would take Clipboard Jesus or Mettenburger over Cutler?

It's called overreaction. This board is notorious for it.

Cutler can still be a good quarterback in the league. But I don't see it happening in Tennessee. They need to start over and rebuild the team with young talent and they don't need someone with cutlets attitude leading them. His problem is when thing get bad he just goes into his shell doesn't seem to give a shite. Not really the thing Tennessee needs right now.
