Do Saints rest their starters in Week 17?

I hope not, Drew is the only player I would rest. Make everyone else play

agreed. we suck too bad to rest our starters…would be nice if we could win our last 3 games with consistency and give us a ton of confidence heading into the playoffs

and unlike past seasons, I'm more worried about our first home game than I would be on the road later in the playoffs….really worried about this weekend even as a 6 point favorite

Better off getting an extra week of rest and keeping players healthy. Key players will sit, injured and hurt player will also get rest.

I wouldn't rest anyone.

A 7-8 team needs to play everyone.

Absolutely I would rest the starters. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.

For one, that whole 3 game winning streak going into the playoffs doesn't mean much. What's worse is if we play everyone and lose to Tampa...how do you think morale would be then? And Payton doesn't give a shite about that, as we saw in 2009. We lost 2 games in a row, and then he rested the starters week 17.

Also, our playoff game could be on a Saturday. You really want to play your key guys and risk injuries in a meaningless game, and then have them play a playoff game 6 days later? That's absurd! Win the division, have 13 days to prepare for your opponent (which is Arizona, if they lose Sunday night), and rest up. That rest week also puts things in perspective...what's happened to this point doesn't mean anything, and going on a 4-game win streak gets you a Super Bowl title.

In order to do this that means we would have beaten atl and have two straight wins. Meaning confidence would be pretty good. The tb game could only hurt you by going out there with the starters and laying an egg or losing players to injury. That one game isn't going to make this team better. You're better off healthy and confident going into the playoffs.

Absolutely. Remember when we lost all our RB's and Jenkins in that meaningless Week 17 game against Tampa and then had nobody available for the Seahawks game? Was brutal. That is the reason we lost - we had nobody to hand off to. Ditto for the San Francisco divisional game when Pierre was knocked out on the first possession - no RB's left that game and that's partially why we lost.

No way we do that again. Ice up and rest up, sons! Need to be full strength for the second season.

Yeah, let's let McCown throw ducks down the middle of the field to our zillion dollar TE.

If there is a possibility that you have to win every game to get to the Super Bowl,

Then you play every game to win.

If they are banged up or have nagging injuries, then they should rest. Otherwise, treat this like Week 3 of the preseason. Starters play first half and first drive of 2nd half, then sit the key players.

Have to keep in mind we can only dress 45, so not everyone will be able to rest.

If the Saints clinch this week I would expect Brees and other starters to sit out week 17. Maybe a series but no more.

Would be counterproductive to risk injury in a meaningless game prior to the playoffs.

In week 17, play or series or two. I know I would love drew to try for 5,000 yards, but if we clinch sunday I rather him not get hurt doing that.
