Its also even more dangerous to be walking down Canal, past the interstate, than walking in the back end of the Quarter.

Does Houston have better crime rates?

I know there is a lower murder rate which tends to be a better indicator

No. Houston has a higher rate of violent crimes and property crimes than NOLA.

Probably not.

I'd bet a lot of stuff goes unreported by people who've dealt with NOPD before.

Only an idiot would, but people are on here saying that Houston has lower crime rates than NOLA, which isn't true.

NOLA has lower crime rates than a lot of other cities. Nashville included.

I witnessed the mounties knock down a young blond college student, surround here with horses and arrest her for petting a horse. Real criminals are no concern for police in a lawless city.
lol, don't believe that for a second.

it might be that if we do things based on following the consent agreement, that we'll see even more chaos..

This is probably the leading cause of all the troubles... oh and I mistakingly called it an agreement, it is a federally enforced decree.

This evening is the carroling in Jackson Square that they do every year. Usually a well attended event with a few thousand showing up.
I'm probably going to take my wife and kids and I hope we have a record turnout.

Think I'll hit the quarter tomorrow and see for myself. I feel compelled to sample a Huge arse Beer, a Hangrenade & a Hurricane.

I'll report back Sunday night if I survive

Murder is the only reliable crime statistic.

Different juridisctions have different ways of categorizing crimes.

Did the Saints win this morning? because it must be Sunday if carroling is tonight.

It's not really the officers fault. They are all doing a job no one else really wants to do in a shitty full of criminals. There are a few bad ones just like any other profession, of course. But the solution to the crime problem starts at the top

Who in their right mind wants to be a New Orleans cop? You have to deal with the scum of the city and a majority of city hates you just because you are a cop. And it's not like the pay is good.

Couple of things:

1 New generation of stick up boy;

2 the Guard and Srate PO cost to much but are about 10x more effective than local cops.
