Fresh off acquiring Wil Myers, Derek Norris and completing the Matt Kemp deal, the Pads are reportedly nearing a deal for Justin Upton.

Where are they going to play all these guys? That's a ton of corner outfielders.

I don't think their pitching staff is as good as they seem to think it is.

If this deal goes through, then the Padres built a sick outfield (offensively) overnight.

They are apparently okay with Kemp in center.

So I'd imagine Seth Smith, Will Venable and Cameron Maybin are gonna be looking for new jobs shortly. Seth Smith got a new deal with the Pads not long ago and was supposedly assured he wasn't going to be traded (although he didn't get a no trade clause)

I have always liked Seth Smith cause he has decent pop and gets on base. They should definitely keep him around.

I can't imagine Kemp playing CF ever again. He is dreadful out there, plus he may have arthritis in his hips now.

Wil Myers played a little 1B last year too so that's another option for them.

One of the most aggressive offseasons I can remember for a small to mid market club

Gotcha. That would be interesting. When the Dodgers decided that Andre Either would be better option to play CF, I thought that spoke volumes about Kemp's future playing CF.

well that was stupid.

I like seth smith, I think he'd be a good platoon 4th OF type.

I would think given the trade last night, that the Pads will look to trade Hedges for more minor leaguers to restock all they've sent out so far. Him and lirano would fetch a decent return.

Smith seems perfect for a platoon. He can rake against righties.

You may be forgetting the Marlins going crazy a few years ago which lasted like a month before they remembered who they really are and started to dump everybody.

The taxpayer check for the new digs cleared. Loria cashed out.

That's true, I completely forgot about them getting Reyes, Buerhle. making a run at Pujols, etc.

I dunno how good the Padres will actually be but they should be fun to watch.

Exactly. Seems the pads would need to shop him pretty aggressive. Would like to see the cubs get in on it...assuming he doesn't cost much, in terms of players.

Would guess though that the mariners get him.
