Worsening

The most emotional and powerful story in college sports will keep going, as Lauren Hill has opted to continue to be part of the Mount St. Joseph basketball program -- as an honorary coach.
The 19-year-old announced Wednesday that she's giving up basketball, how the brain tumor that's prematurely taking her life has now forced her to forever quit playing the sport she loves. So, instead, she'll begin coaching it.

"Lauren played her final college basketball game yesterday. She stepped onto the court one last time in her college career and again fought the odds and made a basket that brought everyone in the gym to their feet. At the end of the game, she accepted a donation from Wooster toward her $1 million goal. It was incredible to see her continue to show such resolve and determination and continue to play strong both on the court and in life. Just sitting here and thinking about all the people in my life and all the folks supporting Lauren and our family. To all my friends on Facebook I can't thank you enough for continuing to share Lauren's story on social media. Her goal of helping others means so much to our family and with all the attention you have helped us gain will no doubt start paying dividends down the road as we fight this monster that is taking these children from their families. Thanks so much for all the love, prayers, and support from the bottom of my heart!!!!!"
