Lois Lerner must feel lonesome as she sips her Earl Grey waiting for the phone to ring.

Nope. He just opened trade with Cuba. There's no way he actually does TWO good things in his 8 years as president.

If we were to consider granting amnesty for the crime of illegal immigration a type of pardon, then the record has already been set. Though that relies a lot on semantics.

ok, so maybe he clips 100.

It'll definitely be in the thousands. Probably not tens of thousands though. Prisoners incarcerated in federal institutions for non-violent crimes who have served at least 10 years already, have clean records while in prison, and no significant violent acts in their background before the charges they were convicted and currently in prison for, will qualify for the clemency program announced earlier this year.

Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich, at Eric Holder's urging was one of the more egregious I can recall.

Apparently you don't recall the pardons by his predecessor:

quote:

WASHINGTON, Dec. 24 -- Six years after the arms-for-hostages scandal began to cast a shadow that would darken two Administrations, President Bush today granted full pardons to six former officials in Ronald Reagan's Administration, including former Defense Secretary Caspar W. Weinberger.

Mr. Weinberger was scheduled to stand trial on Jan. 5 on charges that he lied to Congress about his knowledge of the arms sales to Iran and efforts by other countries to help underwrite the Nicaraguan rebels, a case that was expected to focus on Mr. Weinberger's private notes that contain references to Mr. Bush's endorsement of the secret shipments to Iran.

In one remaining facet of the inquiry, the independent prosecutor, Lawrence E. Walsh, plans to review a 1986 campaign diary kept by Mr. Bush. Mr. Walsh has characterized the President's failure to turn over the diary until now as misconduct.

I said here a few months ago that Obama's pardon list was going to awe inspiring. It's going to be incredible.

We all know how to handle that these days. Just assert the 5th after claiming innocence.

Good. But "tens of thousands"? You're a verifiable loon.

OP is an idiot and doesn't realize it, but decent topic.

I really hope Obama does set some major records there. Our incarceration rate is a joke and embarrassment. I would say the majority of Americans in prison should not be there as it is now.

All the drug offenders being in jail is pathetic.

Great Posts

I would say it takes away from legitimizing our judicial system and places police in more danger. Naturally, this in turn places average citizens in danger because of over stressed and under trained police officers in these poorer neighborhoods.

A speculative guess on pardons? That's the best you can do?

Face the facts he's done a great job as our president and carried himself with way more class than I would have given the critcism he's received over a mess he inherited.

Stop grabbing for straws it looks pathetic.
